Keloids/kenalog injections
I have posted before about the ugly scars on my arms from my brachioplasty. they really keloided on the Left one and both are very tight.
I got steriod injections into the scar on the worst one early in march. It really bruised bad from the injection. the scars actually bruised and all around them was very bruised. the bruising is just now clearing up. ( a good 6 weeks later) I still have some purple bruising in the actual scar. Now I am having really sharp shooting pains in that scar. I'm not kidding when I say it felt like some one put it on fire. It has happened several times over the last couple days. today at work it kept having the shooting pains and really ached in between episodes. Yesterday one of the pains was so bad I almost fell in yoga class because it hit me so suddenly. I had to go out of the pose and sit down and rest for several minutes, til it eased up.
Has anyone had any experience with this at all?
Hi Willow ... don't know if this is the same, but I was bit on the wrist by a neighbor's dog last July which required surgical debridement of the wounds. Both of the scars are STILL purple-ish, and they bother me a lot (one more than the other). I actually have nerve damage however, and it frequently feels like someone is pouring hydrogen peroxide into an open wounds ... actually both of them are still purple-ish), and that burning or stinging runs down the back of my hand. It is enough to wake me in the middle of the night almost every night.
I took a cortizone shot in both of the scars in December, which didn't alleviate any pain, but did seem to tighten up the area (even my occupational therapist noticed that). I was prescribed Lyrica, but haven't been able to take it because I was going through fertility treatments, and Lyrica is a Category C drug, not recommended for those who are pregnant or trying to become so. SO ... the surgeon says he may have to go back in and "bury" the nerve ... but he really doesn't want to. And if THIS guy doesn't want too, I know its probably not a good thing. SO, in the meantime, I'm trying to deal with this best I can ... which, unfortunately isn't always that well.
I hope you get an answer ... please keep me posted if you do. Good luck to you!
