How do I deal with dentist's comments?

I went to the dentist to have some cavities filled. He gave me a prolonged lecture on not eating so much sugar. I tried to explain to him that I DON'T eat much sugar at all, that the culprit is dry mouth (a side- effect of a medication I take), but he just renewed his efforts to reform me. He assumed that because I'm fat and I have cavities, I pig out on sugar. This is really eating at me (pun intended)! Can anyone relate? Nancy

Nancy, Find a new dentist. He obviously has his head up his a$$ and won't hear a thing you say. There are way more good ones out there, do some research, ask friends for recommendations. Just get out of his chair. If he asks why, tell him in very clear terms. Maybe you'll help the next patient he has to get through to him. Maybe not. But you don't have to put up with it. Stop being a victim. Good luck, Carole

Ok, lets think about this. If an employee spoke to you like that, insulted you, and plain old didn't listen, wouldn't you fire him/her? Your Dentist works for you. Not the other way around. Tell him to take a hike, and hire a new Dentist whose head isn't stuck up his A$$. Michele
