Weight Gain After Baby
I am trying to get back on track and finding it very hard. My RNY was 12/31/03 and I lost 236 lbs. I was 389 and dropped to 153lbs (8 lbs from goal) Then my husband and I found out that we were pregnant with our beautiful daughter Zoe Grace. I delivered her 2/1/06 with an uncomplicated 4 1/2 hour labor and vaginal delivery. I weighed 214 the day I went in to have her. Now I weigh 223. I am so depressed!
My OBGYN filled my head with concerns about my child not being able to get the nutrients that she needed to grow and thrive in utero so I picked up some horrible eating habits. I can eat loads of sugar with no problem. I just finished off a whole box of Russel Stovers today. It took me 3 days but I ate them ALL! I ate a 6 inch sub with a 1/2 bag of Doritos for dinner. How can I manage to consume this much food after having had surgery? Does anyone out there identify with my plight? HELP! I am drowning in a sea of fat and chocolate! I don't want to be fat again! I am scared of myself! I am scared for my daughter! I don't want to be the "fat mom". I want to be active in her life! Any suggestions on how to pull the reigns on this wild horse of an appetite?

If I were you I'd go on a strictly protein diet for 2-3 days to get the sweets and carbs out of my system. Then I'd revert to the standard wls food plan eat protein, then veggies, then fruit.
You lost the weight once, you can do it again. Do you think you could be experiencing some post partum depression? If so call your doctor and ask for a prescription to get you through this time.
Best of luck
Are you breastfeeding?
If you are then you need to consume the right calories and nutrients to make quality milk for babe.
If you are not, you need to consume the right calories and nutrients for your own recovery from preganacy and delivery.
Every (or nearly every) new mom has the same issues with weight and calorie intake, even models and movie stars.
YOU ARE NORMAL!
The bad news? Discipline, whining, exercise and proper nutrition are key to both good health and weight loss.
There is no magic. Sorry.

Jami,
don't feel alone, I had my daughter in Sept and I still have about 15lbs to get to where I was before I got pregnant. I have bad eating habits now that I reget. I eat sugar when before I wouldn't touch it and thought that wls patients that did where NUTS! Well I see now how this stuff can happen. Anyway I just wanted you to know that others have the same problems after delivery that you do. I know that I dont drink enough water and get enough protien. I work on it every day but it's hard to break those old habits. I crave sweets and junk. I think about it all the time sometimes all I want is a doughnut and I feel like I can't live without one. Its so hard sometimes.
Are you breastfeeding? I breastfed my daughter so I was able to drop a ton of the pregnancy weight after delivery but as I said I still have some to go. She is now 7 months old and I think geesh am I ever gonna get this weight off! You need to get rid of all the crappy food and make it a priority to go down in weight. I need to take my own advice also. well good luck and get rid of that junk food, if you don't have it to eat you can't eat it right?
