4 days post op. . .

I am 4 days post op and I feel I am progressing nicely but I can't shake this feeling of lightheadedness!! I am getting in vitamins, and desperately trying to get in fluids and protein (that's all I do). I am doing things around the house and yard trying to increase my activity. Of course I am tired after exerting myself and I stop and rest. I would like to go for a walk in this gorgeous weather but don't feel safe. Any ideas? I know I'm just out but need some reassurance??? I was thinking this could be after effects of anesthesia (?still?), low calorie intake, dehydration, etc.(???) Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks Denise

Denise, Make sure you are sipping on water throughout the day to get in your water. It's very easy newly post-op to end up becoming dehydrated. I went through the same stage of feeling lightheaded, that will go away, now if after time you are still having this problem always contact your surgeon's office for his opinion. It's better to be safe and ask. If you do go walking take someone with you to make sure you are ok. Amy

Thanks alot for the reply!!! I am aiming for my 64 ounces today and will see if that helps. I am so used to drinking at least 12 glasses per day pre-op that these may be the effects I am feeling. Especially since I had lots of liquid stool at the hospital and when I got home (gone now). Sorry so gross. . . Thanks again Denise

Denise, no problem! It can be a royal pain in the beginning to be able to get your fluids in. I remember it would take me all day long! ugh! Just try to do as much as you can, each day it will become easier. Amy
