gallbladder update.
well i went to my surgeon today, I had the ultra sound last week and it showed gallstones!!! I had my surgery almost 2 years agon and was hoping my gallbladder would behave...
So on Friday, I will get to have it removed. I went back to my GBA surgeon for this since he is familiar with my insides and also he is the one who just placed the mesh in my upper stomach area, just below the ribs just this past December and I thought he would be the best one to do this since he will have to either go around the mesh or actually make a small hole in it if he does it lap.
He said we will wait on my anemia until this is over, he felt my gallbladder posed the higher risk.
Guess I better get my house cleaned up since I wont be doing much for who knows how long after surgery.....

Hi Donna ... what's the deal with surgery? How long is recovery expected?
I originally saw a gastroenterologist who said my unexplained abdominal pains are not my gallbladder, so he ordered an endoscopy, ct scan, and small bowel xray series. I happened to have been talking with a family practice doc who's affiliated with another hospital, and I told him what I've been going through, and he said, oh ... I'll bet that's your gallbladder. He had me go for a HIDAscan ... and I got a call last Wednesday, saying that my gallbladder is not functioning correctly, and he's referring me to another doc for a second opinion (this doc happens to be a surgeon).
Why does your doc feel your gallbladder poses a high risk? Risk of what? geez, I SO do not want to go through this.
Anyway, I wish you the best, and please ... keep me posted!!

I had gallbladder problems last fall & the HIDA scan found it not functioning although there were no stones. My GB surgeon took it out almost 2 years to the day of my original surgery. It was a piece of cake. He usually sends you home the same day but I also had my gynecologist do a bladder repair at the same time so I was kept overnight. I was ready to go back to work in about 3 days but he made me wait a week.
I feel so much better!
By the way, even if you feel good, housework isn't a good idea anyway. Get it done now or let it sit. Good luck.

In my housefold, chollies have been all over the place. My MIL spent 5 weeks in ICU after hers. My wife looked like death warmed over for three days. I had mine at at 12:30 PM and was out of recovery and on my way home by 3:30. I stopped by my office and sat in on a requirements meeting. I took the next day off and was back at full speed from that point on. I suspect a lot has to do with your overall physical condition, how long they keep you under (mine was over in 22 minutes), etc. There is just no way to tell.
