Tough eating question

This past week I ate some stuff that did not sit well & came right back up. Plus I got terrible gas pains. I know that happens to people once in a while, but how do you avoid it happening? Amy

It's a trial and error thing with be, once it happens and I know what I ate to cause it, I don't eat it again...... Things change all the time, I'm going thru a terrible time with foods right now.....nothing is "sitting" well..... Darlene

Hi Amy, After nearly 5 years of trial and error I have come to the conclusion that for me, the only consistency is that there is no consistency! In other words, what works and sits comfortably today may send me in a downward spin toward heaving and cramping tomorrow. Save for the following which make me sick any and every time: Beef, Chicken, Turkey, Pasta, Bread and anything that has corn syrup. Mostly I am living on soy protein (tofu and other soy products), legumes, nuts, vegetables, eggs, and fish. I stay away from Dairy and glutens and for religious reasons do not eat pork or shell fish. So, to make a short answer long...it does help to keep a log of your foods (and calories/fats if you are interested) so that you can be aware of those foods that get you into trouble and those that are reasonable, healthy and comfortable. Best of health! Karen

Amy, I have to agree with Karen. One day it is ok, others it is not. I have difficulties with Pasta, hamburg, chicken, pork. Anything too dry. No Ice Cream (sugar free) I get violently ill. If i eat fast (which is most of the time) I get sick, I love Chinese but it hates me... I can eat steak though, as long as it is med rare. One other thing, I eat a ton prior to my period, but the week after can't keep anything down. Go figure. Hope you work this out MaryLyn p.s. almost 3 years out.

I wish I had an answer for you. I'm nearly seven years post-op and it still happens to me, even when I didn't even ear any really solid food. I guess it's just a side effect of the surgery we'll have to bear with. Sometimes just coffee does it to me. Good luck.
