Just checking in ....
I responded to a question on the board, and several sweet people asked how I was. Instead of hijacking someone else's question, I thought I'd just post about my progress.
I'm half-way through my chemo and everything is going very well.
I have been real tired, but that's really my only complaint. I got some really cool wigs. I figure if I don't have hair, i'm going to have some fun. I kind of "wig" people out when I change from blonde one day to brown the next. Between losing 150 pounds and changing hair styles, people really have to give me a double take!
My CA-125 (which measures the ovarian cancer) has gone down from 750 to 500 after surgery to just 41 after my second chemo! Between 0 and 35 is considered normal, so I'm close. If I can get two chemos under 35 they consider that in remission. All the prayers are working!
Of course I had this mess with my insurance company because I'm in a drug trial, which my doctor highly recommended. My insurance company didnt want to pay because there is an exclusion for trials (does this sound like obesity surgery or what?) Thankfully, the drug company decided to pick up the bill for all my chemo treatments. But it's still scary knowing my insurance has cut me off.
I lose weight after chemo without really trying (I always wanted to do that but not for this reason), but then it comes back because I'm starving. I just worry that I'm going to gain with all this up and down business. But for now, I bounce between 145 and 150, and that's still considered below goal for me since I'm 5'7". It just makes me crazy, though.
Again, thanks Lynda and Rita for asking about me. I'm usually here every day, lurking. I have to get my OH fix. Where else can you have such caring people and such high drama -- all for the price of admission?!?
