I think I support your decision.
I wouldn't have the nerve to tell someone not to email me that specific again.... good for you.
Also, may your house sell well... I'm moving to boston area soon and rents are explosive there....
Anyhoo... I have always been skinny, except for the 12 years I grew increasingly large... then had WLS... I never felt comfortable around obese people, two are large in my family and quite frankly my eyes are sore when I see them bend over... that said... my eyes are also sore when my mother, a tiny size 4-6 bends over... either way... perhaps it is the body part or another person's insecurity which I find is the uncomfortable part.
You are correct, and we often forget... even Oprah is regaining 35 pounds... we should edify one another. Lord knows there is so much going on around us to defeat us.
Hmmm, yes Joann, I know what you mean. I received the "Krispy Creams calander Girls" showing 12 months of very obese ladies in sexy clothing. I wanted to cry.
Instead I wrote a steaming letter to the sender asking him to refrain from sending me anything that makes fun of the obese. He sent a very contrite letter back.
It still stings even when I'm not morbidly obese anymore. They are still our sisters. I don't like to see any group being made fun of.
You take care and don't get TOO worn out with all your wandering down memory lane as you shake off your past to make room for the present and future.
Pat
I am with you there....the other day at work the one guy I work with is SMO and the other guy called him "FAT DAVE". I could not believe I snapped at him for that but I did. I would not want someone to call me FAT DEBBIE why should he be treated any differently. I told this guy his name is Dave there is no FAT in it! Go****hink I caught him off guard and he did apologize for saying it. I think sometimes people forget but a friendly reminder can always bring them back! Glad you did it!
Debbie
You know, I have gotten similar Emails over time, and just get pissed and delete. I think next time I will hit reply and give my opinion. My SIL's boyfriend sends that type of stuff all the time. He did not know me as fat, but even still, it is offensive even if I never had been fat.
You are an inspiration!
