Hello, My name is Jenny C. I had open RNY on October 3 2003. I have lost a total of 186 pounds, but have recently gained 15 pounds back. I am really scared about this. I am excercising 5 days a week for one hour to one and a half hours. I do the elipitical and I take a body sculpting class at our gym. I don't think I am eatting too much, but I do know I am eatting some of the wrong foods. I am so addicted to carbs it isn't funny! I still get full really fast and I stop eatting when I feel full. I drink a ton of water. So I know I am getting all that I need. Recently I found out that I was anemic, and my b-12 was low. So I am taking Iron, and had a b-12 shot, and now I am taking b-12 sub lingual. I guess I am really scared about gaining any more back. I don't know what to do to stop this. Any suggestions? I feel great about what I have accomplished! I feel good about myself, I just don't want to gain any more back. Thanks for your help Jenny C

While you are heavier (as evidenced by the scale), are you also bigger? Is your exercise resulting in denser muscle tissue, which will bump the number on the scale, but not necessarily result in you actually taking up more space, so to speak? What do your clothes tell you? As far as intake goes, if there is a common thread around here, carbohydrate addication certainly is top dog if not a close second. My only suggestion is to log carbs, to maintain an awareness of their presence in your daily intake. Once you see a pattern, try to isolate a portion here or there. Trying to knock all of them off at once might be setting you up for failure, but taking out one or two might be enough to arrest the cycle. Nowhere Man/PH/Jay

Hi Jenny Welcome to the grads board or should I say the struggler's board! You've done a wonderful job with your weight loss and you are working out hard every day. Have you taken your measurements? It may be that you have converted some fat to muscle and it weighs more heavily than does fat. The carb thing is the killer isn't it? May I suggest you keep track of your daily intake on www.fitday.com as it will show you the ratios of fat, carb and protein. It's a free site. I know for me I've just had to put my foot down and "just say no" to the carbs. I still have weight to lose so it is imperative for me. Pat

Hi, Jenny! Our surgery dates are really close (9/11/03 for me). Like you I've regained weight from my lowest (160 back to 180) and I'm definitely scared too. I am probably eating too many carbs, because generally speaking my eating is pretty good. I'm working on a plan for this to try to get a few pounds back off, but barring that, at least to stay where I'm at now. Sure sounds like you're doing all the right things, except for the carbs perhaps. I think the other poster's idea was a good one - take away a couple of things at a time, and it shouldn't seem quite as difficult. Perhaps I will try this as well. Best wishes, and welcome to the grads board. This is a nice and honest place to be! Carlita
