Any one have a stricture?

I am looking for pos-ops who have suffered with strictures since surgery. I have a friend who has been dialated 6 times since her surgery four months ago and she wanted to speak to someone else who has gone through this. She is very depressed about what is going on and vomits all the time... VAL

Not me...but, from what I understand, it is the most common, and easily corrected, complication there is. ~~Sherry

Hi Val, I was dilated 3 times in a 3 month period. I had an esophageal stricture. After the 3rd dilation my doctor told me that if I continued to have problems I would need a surgical solution (i.e. a revision) to correct the problem. I still have problems but not so major that I can't live with them. I get foamies on occasion and have problems with food texture, but haven't had to be dilated again. I hope your friend finds some relief. It could be that something should be done to correct it surgically. Hugs, Mo

I had a stricture, but I was dialated once and that fixed my problem. I hope they can get her squared away soon. It was very hard to deal with and also painful. Lily

I had one almost immediately after surgery. One endoscopy fixed it though. I'm 2 1/2 years out with no problems. I hope your friend finds some relief soon! It was not fun. Laina Lap RNY 9/9/03
