Repost from main board.....sorry I am lazy I had been having bad stomach aches, cramps, just pain! I had been diagnosed with ulcers very early post-op and they all thought they must had gotten worse. But when acidpex and carafate didn't work, I was sent to a GI specialist. I had an upper endo awhile back and it was discovered that I did have an ulcer but nothing that should be causing discomfort. (pouch looked good at two+ years out~I was worried about that) So then I was ordered a GB ultrasound....gallbladder looked fine, but the surgeon wanted to have a better look at it and ordered a hidascan. I had the hidascan yesterday....took 3.5 hours becuase my small bowel wouldn't fill with the radioactive dye.....but they got the test done awyways, and I waited for the doc to call. I got the call a couple hours ago that my gallbladder was not working, VERY sluggish under 30% function. Plus the doctor said something about a connection being clogged/blocked.....couldn't understand that part. I am now going to see a general surgeon to set up the gall bladder removal. What should I expect? I was hoping to not have surgery again for awhile.....I had WLS 12/03....total hysterectomy 10/04.....08/05 full TT with anchor cut and muscle repair.....01/06 breast reduction....plus c-sections in 1999 and 2001. I am kinda worn out on the whole surgery thing Like I said....I was hoping for a break Anyways.....I am glad they figured out what was causing the stomach pain, and I am glad to get rid of it, just kinda bummed about another surgery. I am like the 4th person now that I know personally who has had WLS then there GB took a poop. I was even on the URSO for like 6 months post-op Well thats what I know! Take Care jesi

hi Jesi. That's about the same percent mine showed. I had laproscopic gall bladder removal and went in at ten am.m. and was home by two p.m. I was swollen and miserable. Looked pregnant. i haven't had any food or bowel issues. Everything is just like before. Oh, I almost forgot, I did take off work for a week because at the time I was working with mental patients. My first night back, I helped in a code since I was the charge nurse and somehow ended up on the floor with a wild patient on top on my and six other workers restraining him. i was yelling get me up I just had surgery but no harm was done. I think you will sail right thru it. Good luck

I've seen you around, but didn't know you were a nurse! Your story brings back memories. I worked in psych and head injury rehab for several years, so I've definately been there. I'm glad you didn't get too badly hurt. Caryl

Lordy mercy girl, those closed head injuries can go off on you in a heartbeat. We must be crazy. Anyway, I am now retired thank goodness and just enjoying my two grandbabies and my three yorkies.

Every one's different. I worked a half day, went to an outpatient place, had GB removed at 1 pm. procedure lasted 20 minutes. I awoke at 2:45 pm. I stopped by the office at 3:45 to attend a briefing. Stayed home the next day and was back at work the day after w/ no ill effects whatsoever. Your mileage may vary... Nowhere Man/PH/Jay

Having problems with the gallbadder after surgery is COMMON thats why alot of surgeons routinely remove it at the same time as the WLS in order to prevent a second surgery. Sorry your going to have to have another. Hopefully this will be it and you'll be fine. I would ask about the clogged/blocked part - was that with the gallbadder or your intestines?
