Amber,
I couldn't have believed in a million years that there was someone out there who ate ice cream the way I did! I can really relate to what you are going through.
I had surgery in 1/05 and have not tried "real" ice cream but have tried the sugar free, no sugar added, low carb, etc.... But, that really stopped me in my tracks. The gas (smell) was so bad, so frequent that I couldn't stand myslef, so I decided to stop eating it!
I still crave it sometimes but funny thing is, I've substituted it with decaf hazelnut coffe with french vanilla cream. This really fills me up! I was not a coffee drinker before, but now I have some everyday!
I'll tell you, if you let those sugar alcohols loose in your system long enough, maybe you'll be like me and not be able to stand the smells that come out of you!
Thank you so much for sharing. It's good to know we're not alone,
Sheila
Hey Amber
All I can say to you is that I can RELATE to EVERYTHING you mentioned.....Im not into ice cream...never have been HOWEVER some of the foods that I thought my pouch COULD NEVER hold....NOW CAN and it scares the friigin HELL out of me.....All Ican say is that for me once I knew the foods that I now can eat...and Ive eaten them.....I realize I have to just stay away completely......when I get out of control.....seems like on a weekend I feel I can eat what ever the heck I want....ACK!!!!!!!!!! Anyway for me what I do is GET BACK INTO CONTROL....I go back to the very basics...protein drinks...protein...liquids...etc.......I DONT step on the scale cuz thats pointless......I just get myself back together again...This surgery is a great one to get the first 100 or so pounds off in a relatively short period of time BUT after that its back to life as usual.....I know its been said a BILLION times....I just wish they could fix our brains because thats where the HUGE problem lies.....
I wish there was something I could say to change your situation but you just have to use old fashioned "SELF CONTROL" ....its NOT easy and the sad fact is that it does not get easier
good luck to you sweetie....keep the faith and hang in there
love, peace, and hope
