Can you list the good carbs for me? Whole wheat bread, bananas, fruit? What else? Thanks! Lily

real oatmeal, all veggies, fruit, berries, nuts, whole wheat pasta, brown or wild rice, sweet potatoes, (I was surprised thay are actually better for you than regular potatoes, lower on the glycemic index and loaded w/ vitamins) If you get the south beach diet book, and south beach diet cook book there are long lists in the phase two and three sections. Most libraries carry them if you don't want to spend the money.

Stay away from anything that is highly processed and has white flour and/or sugar in it. The closer to it's natural state, the better it is for you. Bananas actually are not the best fruit to eat. They have a high glycemis index and convert to sugar pretty quickly. Any of the non-starchy veggies and fruits are good. Cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, green beans, apples, oranges, whole grain breads, brown rice. Stay away from white rice, white pasta, white flour, white potatoes. Sweet potatoes are good.
