The Cottage Cheese Test?
Hi All. I never took, nor never actually knew how, to take the "cottage cheese" test that newbies are told to take if they feel they are consuming too much in one sitting. Today at lunch I was starving so I bought a cup of cuttage cheese and proceeded to eat it, without a thought, and I was done pretty quickly. I was satisfied, not full and crying, but nicely satified. Does that mean my much is much bigger than 1 cup? I will be 3 years out in June so I was beginning to wonder. I think we all do around this time. I am capable of eating almost anything, but the funny thing is I just never really know for sure. One day something will go down easy, the next day one bite and I am done. I do love that though, it keeps me thinking. Anyway, any opinions on this cottage cheese thing would be appreciated. I have always wondered just how big my pouch remained or whether it keeps growing for several years until it reaches a particular size. Hugs to all. Missy
For a true cottage cheese test, you need to do it first thing in the morning on a very empty tummy. Measure out a portion of cottage cheese using a scale or measuring cup. Eat just as fast as you can, without chewing, until you are really full but not miserable. Remeasure how much cottage cheese is left. The difference is how much your pouch holds.
Just normally eating, I can eat probably a cup of cottage cheese. But doing the test, I eat about 2.5 oz. I guess I'm fortunate that I haven't really stretched mine out. My surgeon says that after 2 years, pouch size will vary between 6 - 8 oz. Hope this helps.
