A repost from main board

I too get frustrated at the seemingly ill-preparedness of many WLS patients. But then again, they are being done by every Tom, Dick, and Harry out of med school to anyone who feels like they would like to be a little thinner. You feel like saying "a pound a week is not a stall"!! or As long as you are doing everything you are supposed to be doing, what else can you do? It will come off!! I think the reason I get so pi**ed at new WLS patients when they say stuff like that, or other stupid stuff they should have already known, is because in a way it diminishes all the struggles I went through before and after the surgery. Now it seems you can be a complete nut, just slightly overweight, and have no clue, and be approved and re-routed in weeks. I suppose I should be more understanding and supportive. I have also asked some dumb stuff too I guess. Oh well, this is why I haven't visited the main board in over a year. Michelle

Michelle, I so feel your pain. I know I went through hell right out of surgery that resulted in a second surgery just two days later - ugh - then it just kept rolling down hill. Yes I to have asked and probably will continue to ask "stupid" questions. Oh well - human nature in all of us.

This is so interesting. I have a friend who just had surgery a month ago and is already trying all sorts of things, and as you may have guessed, is paying the price for it. I was such a goody-two-shoes that I did not dare do anything different than what the doctor ordered, and it was a good 6 weeks before I even attempted 1 teaspoon of very watered down mashed potatoes. When I go on the main board I am shocked at what people want to eat. I know why I had this surgery, I sometimes wonder whether everyone else does too? There is a post about eating an Egg McMuffin and I don't believe the gal is two months out or so. Gosh, I STILL have not tried an Egg McMuffin and it will be three years in June. Go figure!!! Missy Just my 2 cents worth.

egg mcmuffin!! ohhhh my tummy just hurts thinking about the egg thing. I really can only eat hard boiled ones, the other ones 9 times out of 10 leave me writhing on the floor!

I tried an Egg McMuffin last summer at 14 months out. I used to love those things. I took one bite and tossed it. It was gross!

I couldn't have said it better myself!! Well done and thank you so much for posting this for all of us to read. It drives me crazy too when I read some of that stuff on the main board. Almost makes me wonder what kind of programs, or lack thereof, people are coming out of to even get this surgery??? Have a super weekend...Cap'n K-Man

Thanks Ken. I just shake my head sometimes and wonder the same thing. What the hell are some of those surgeons telling the patients? Or are the patients just making their own rules up and figuring what the BLEEP because I had surgery it'll go away and then scratch their heads in amazement that sometimes things stall. I just wish the surgeons would preach louder than they do about plateaus and inform their patients that they do and will happen!!! You have a fabulous weekend too!

First off, Hi!!!! Yes, I too have become dissolussioned by the main board. My favorite one of all time however was a gal who was 10 days out from her surgery and went to a birthday party where she proceeded to eat nachos, part of a corn dog and some birthday cake then wondered if her "tool" was broken. (no just her head!) I come here because it's comfortable. We all seem to struggle with the same issues. Am I perfect? NO. But I work the program and have hopes that my weight will continue to slowly come off. (Faster would be welcome too!) Good to see you. I understand about being slammed at work. I know you have been doing more than one job lately and that has to be difficult. I just need to refocus and reprioritize my life so I can fit more into it. Some things are just taking up space...know what I mean? Pat
