NEW PLATEAU BUSTER!
Great post with a plethora of valuable information! The Glycemic Index site is great!!!
I know I exercise daily and when the scale goes up I fret... we forget muscle weighs more than fat weighs.
To keep things in perspective I measure at 8 week intervals and use my clothes as a measuring stick.
While I'd like to drop the 5 pounds I up / down... my clothes are getting looser...
I think we fixate (sp?) on a number on that scale (I'm guilty of this bad habit) and forget that this is a journey not a diet that we go off of. Lifestyle change takes years and I think I'm still a newbie at it
Best wishes,
Lisa
Thanks for the post! What kind of fish are you eating and how do you prepare it? I have started eating Tilapia and putting Tony's on it and cooking it in a non-stick skillet. I also found that FF cottage cheese mixed with SF Jello is a good source of protein and satisfying. I'm going to try the protein "jump start" and see if it helps. Thanks again. Carol
Carol,
Tilapia is great because it won't "break up" when you cook it.
I use it a lot.
I also like Catfish. I know, it's a little "low-brow/ghetto."
But big thick fillets, marinated in
Worcestershire sauce, black pepper and fat free Italian dressing-
Broil or grill up great!
Then again, it's probably because it's so available.
Farm raised Catfish is to Mississippi as
Cheese is to Wisconsin or Oranges to Florida.
Now that I think about it, I do eat a lot of fish!
My "cottage cheese favorite" has some carbs.
It's frozen mango chunks thrown in and eaten
Just as they are thawing!
That, or finely diced dry fruit, mixed in the cottage cheese
Or low-fat plain yogurt
And put back in the fridge overnight.
The dried fruit (apricots, cherries, cranberries, peaches, etc,,)
Re-hydrate and thicken the cottage cheese or yogurt.
It's my "Ice Cream."
Get down to 20gms of carbs a day, and pretty much
Your system can't help but go into ketosis.
Best Wishes-
Dx
Dx,
You are such a great writer!!! This was wonderful so don't delete it and haul it out periodically to post! I know I'm going to keep a copy. Yes I was on the plateau from hell! Over 3 months and NO weight loss....I was going nuts trying to figure out what I was doing wrong. All this time I was also slowly losing energy. Like sands through and hour glass....so was the energy of my life!
My problem now has a solution. Did I need to change my diet? No.
Did I need to exercise more? Probably.
Did I have a metabolic imbalance? BINGO
Super low thyroid and very low B-12. It's been a week and I'm already feeling much better...like I can take on the world again! And yes, the scale is moving once again!
There is always an answer to our problems in life if we just look for it!
Thanks again.
Pat
wilow,
By all means, I'm flattered.
BTW?
How goes the post PS?
I just got back from a Dr. visit and it looks like
I may get more than just the panniculectomy I was
Discourgaed from last week.
4 docs have said "baloney! get the PS!"
And 2 are all for a full belt lipectomy.(sp)
How was your "re-coop" time?
I'm asking everyone I see....
Best Wishes-
Dx
I LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!! my belt lipectomy results. It is phenominal. It really made a huge difference in how I feel about my body. with the excess skin I felt so fat and blobby. post belt lipectomy, I look like a normal person (of 45- good, but not perfect) The belt lipectomy has been the best result of all my many plastic surgeries. It did more for my self image than the 130 pounds I lost before it.
Recuperation was not bad. I did it out patient, but I did not have any health issues. I had surgery Sat AM, home by 5 pm, able to go up the stairs to my own bed to sleep. by Monday was taking short walks in the neighborhood. I have full details on my profile. I had to be off work for 6 weeks due to the muscle repair, lifting restrictions and being an RN working in a hospital and the lifting required. I felt well enough to return to work in 4 weeks, but Dr wouldn't let me.
My PS in January went well (thigh lift revision) It is looking a lot better. I am still swollen and somewhat bruised, but feel well. My dr did a really nice job on it and It is much improved. back to work tomorrow.
hello Dx I was wanting to know if after a year can we still lose weight because i have stayed the same for about 6 months now and i am just over a year out. Some tell us after 6 months we are done loseing and understand that the big loss is done but why cant we lose if we watch what we eat . I want to get down to were I have a normal BMI. and to do that I have to get to 140 I am at 168. Just thought I would ask you cause you seem to always try to help us .
