NEW PLATEAU BUSTER!
Thanks Dx. I'm below goal and hope to stay there, but wanted you to know you've hit a couple of points there I need to consider....i.e. coffee and unfortunately smoking that I continue to struggle with. I get so frustrated that I keep falling back to cigarettes, I know I need to quit but can't seem to get over the "hump" and leave it alone.

Thank you for this great, informative, and inspirational post. I have hit a few plateaus myself. My weight management doctors explained that this journey is not a slippery slide, but a step down process, loss, stall, loss, stall. And not really a stall but a waiting for the scale to move as your body adjusts to the weight loss. The scale may not move but the body is undergoing changes, melting inches off. I am so thankful for my journey and the support I find on the Over Fifty Forum and this new site. I am only 14 months post-op and I have lost 123lbs. I have taken back my life and I am no longer a prisoner in my own skin. Again thanks for the information. I am passing it on to some of my friends.

Hi, Dex What a great post!!! Thanks soo much can you please give me some Ideas as to which kinds of meats i should try?? i had RNY on 10/25/2004 and i have lost 140lbs and now im stuck not losing a pound
for about 2months now so i really want to try the Meat and Cottage chesse to see if that works.....
Caroline,
Seriously, if you seem to be stuck
Try to find out perhaps why.
For some it is not enough water
Others too much salt,
Others not enough calories
For others too many High Glycemic Carbs.
When ever I hit stalls (and I had a few)
I added more fish, and dropped my carbohydrate
Intake to around 20 to 30 grams of carbohydrates and
Kept my calorie intake up with protein.
(More Meat and Low-Fat Cottage cheese)
Lean meats and no "processed" meats like hotdogs or such.
I also at most of my carbs in high fiber
And high nutrition veggies
Like squash, tomatoes, peppers, and such.
No processed starches at all.
I also added 10 minutes more of exercise
To each exercise day. Only an additional 40 minutes for the week.
Back then I exercised (walk/run) and some exer-bands
4 days a week.
I also added yet more water.
My "stalls" broke every time.
Do check for mineral imbalance or meds and such.
That can cause some to stall out their loss.
Are you close to your goal weight?
That may be it as well.
Don't know if this helps at all
But I hope.
Best Wishes-
Dx
