Surgery Again
I had my surgery a little over 2 years ago Oct. 2, 2001, I have lost 105 -110 lbs, I have not lost anything in a long time now, I feel like I have gained some weight lately but I am to afraid to weigh myself in case I have, I feel so ashamed of myself that I have not lost more, I need to lose about 150 lbs still. Has anyone had this surgery more than one time. I would like to have it again. I'mso disappointed in myself. I JUST WANT TO BE THIN. Any help would be great. Have a Blessed day. Gods Blessings, Debi
I looked in your profile. I didn't see a recent update. Have you been back to your surgeon or nutritionist to discuss these issues? Have you had any type of endoscopy to determine if there is a mechanical failure of the RNY? This is where I would start. Generally, surgeons do not revamp a surgery unless there is something proven to be mechanically wrong (such as an opening from the pouch to the old stomach).
I can tell you are frustrated but have you really taken a look at how you are eating, drinking, and exercising? You cannot rely solely on your tool to lose weight, you have to work the tool. I know that you "want to be thin" but please look at the bright side, certainly you are healthier than you were 105-110 pounds ago.
I know the feeling of desperation that can come from not reaching your goal, but I hope that you can find the answers that you are looking for.
Good luck Dawna
"I JUST WANT TO BE THIN"
Being thin isn't the most important goal -- being healthy is! How are you eating? If you have gained, chances are that it is due more to falling back into old (bad) habits rather than just eating too much. Pre-surgery I used to fool myself into thinking that I didn't really eat too much until a therapist told me that no one got fat eating too much broccoli. Have an honest look at your food intake -- are you eating because you're hungry or because you have head hunger? Are you still following the basic rules & eating protein first? No drinking with meals? No sugary/caloric drinks? Try to pursue all of your non-surgery options -- a nutritionist, your surgeon, a therapist maybe -- before considering a re-surgery. You know you can lose because you have had tremendous success. Now its a matter of getting back to that same place mentally where the motivation kept you on track. Don't think of it as failing -- you are about half way to goal! So you're a success in progress -- but it does take hard work.
With that said -- there is a forum here called "failed WLS-2nd time around". here is the link:

I'm not sure if that is the right place for you because you have had success, but you might find more people in your situation and get some more advice. Good luck!
