Get a second opinion... for sure... don't even think any further... Here's what I'm doing next month.... Going to the nearest "City" Portland (5 hours by car) for my TT... staying in a Embassy Suites ($89 per day when it's long term - two weeks).. paying it all myself... my insurance co would rather I die than drop a dime on me..... Here's the point..... I have a bunch of health problems too... reminders of my former lifestyle and family history of heart disease.... I found a surgeon willing to take a chance on me and I'm going for it.... My WLS surgeon said he would do the panniculectomy, but seriously... I have been watching Dr. 90210 and I want to be "sculpted" like all them cute Hollywood girls... so I'm headed to a "real Plastic Surgeon" ie: one with a lipo machine....lol Don't give up Dex..... keep looking.... you aint done til you're done!!! And what do you mean you live in the middle of Mississippi.... aren't you real close to Hot Coffee, Ms.? Good luck friend..... Laurie - minus 176 lbs!!

Sounds like you need a hug! (((HUGS))). I feel your pain, disappointment and confusion. Please don't listen to that evil little voice - you've worked too hard, been through too much and deserve every bit of success you've had. I don't know about you, but I'm afraid I couldn't stop if I gave myself permission to gain just "a few" pounds. GET a 2nd and 3rd opinon. Then weigh their advice. If 2 of them agree, either yea or nea, I'd say that is probably what you need to do, or not do, as the case may be. But even if only 1 says yes, he thinks you're a good candidate, if you're confident & comfortable with his expertise, go for it. It all boils down to whatever is best for you! Just like our decisions to have or not have wls, and which kind of wls to have - YOU have to be confident and comfortable with your decision. If you're willing to take the risk of surgery & you've found a doc you're confident in then it is the right decision FOR YOU, and that is all that matters. In spite of all the complications you've endured since your wls you still feel that you made the right choice don't you? You need to feel just as confident & comfortable with your ps decision as you did/do with your wls decision. That come what may, you've made the right decision for YOU! As for paying for it - that is a horse of a different color. My plastics will be 100% self-pay b/c my insurance has denied coverage. I've had 4 ps consults, and the doc that I have the most confidence in is located 500 miles away. Like you, that means spending at least a week there post-op and traveling back once a week for another month, then bi-monthly for a year's worth of follow ups. To add to these expenses, this is the most expensive surgeon I've consulted and the hospital fees are higher there than locally AND I'm looking at having 3 different sets of operations b/c I want it all - some I need, some I want but I do know the difference. I'm willing to spend some big bucks, but I don't know if I'm willing to spend an extra 40% ($15,000). Hard decisions to make. All we can do, you & I, is weigh the pros & cons against the additional expenses and decide what is best for each of us based on our own cur****tances. I'll be thinking of you as you wrestle with your decision and I with mine. Good luck, wherever this new journey takes you! Vickie J.

Ken, Thanks! Great to see you back on the Boards of late, And congratulations on tackling your problems. Sorry to be out whining on the Boards late at night. The following Morning I had a whole new perspective. Thanks for being part of the continued "Group Therapy." Drop by the men's message board sometimes with your "...super, Mr. Incredible advice!" Back when I was first dropping in out on the Boards It was just a handful of guys with challenges, little victories and Rambles to share. The Boards can always use more Further on out Super Men to pass on what they've learned "so far." If I'm ever near Wisconsin, I'll certainly look you up! Thanks for the Support! Best Wishes- Dx
