So THAT was what was wrong!!
OK, I thought I was going crazy.....I was making everyone around me crazy!! WHY oh WHY was I NOT losing weight!!!! I was only eating 960 calories per day but still I wouldn't lose.
Well, I just had my 1 year labs done and you can probably see this coming a mile away can't you....YEP, my B12 was almost non-existent, my iron was down and worst of all my thyroid came in at 10 when it is suppose to be 5 so I'm low--again.
So that explains the metabolism of a 3 toed sloth. I started daily B12 shots today for the next week, then weekly for a month then monthly after that probably for the rest of my life. PCP is upping my llevoxyl and so this well oiled machine is getting an overhaul. Hopefully I will start purring like a kitten and racing like a again toward my goal now that we know what is wrong.
Are you taking your vitamins daily? Are you getting your labs done on schedule? Boy, did I find out how important that was!!!!
Pat
Hi, Pat!
Recheck that number.....5 is HIGH. The Board of Endocrinology changed the acceptable TSH range in January of 2003.
If I could find my profile, I'd copy and paste the information here.
I have a section on hypothyroidism that addresses this! If I get any higher than 1.6, I'm dragging! Anything between 2.00 - 3.00 with symptoms should be suspect and considered for treatment!!!
At 5, you're out of range and at 10 -- sheesh!!!!!
This is how "I" went undiagnosed for 10 years! Yes, 10 years! If we go back into my records, I was almost 5.00, 10 years ago and according to today's range, hypo. First time it was checked, I had gained 20 lb very quickly for no apparent reason. Then, I kept gaining until I was - well -- eligible for WLS!
When I was FINALLY diagnosed, I thought I'd lose the hundred pounds but they said , it doesn't work that way. *sigh*
So here I am!
I sure hope you feel better soon! And, really, get a specialist (endocrinologist) to monitor your hypothyroidism. If not, you'll be selling yourself short. Getting your TSH under 5.00 may not be acceptable to you! How great might you feel if you're under 2.00????????
Love you!
Vanessa
Hi Vanessa,
I remember that you have thyroid problems. My hair is still pretty thin too. A good mutual friend of ours also pointed out that I was acting....a bit nuts--depressed and stressed. All good signs wouldn't you say, but it is often so gradual that you really don't notice and I still wasn't waking up in the morning with the first thought being "I'm so tired" like I was when I was first diagnosed a couple of years ago. That to me is the defining test. Sleep 10 hours and you are so dead tired you must force your eyelids open and get out of bed.
I guess I was hoping for an instant cure with the B-12 shots because I still feel like someone has drained all my energy from me. Maybe in about a week I'll feel good again. Actually it was the surgeon, not my PCP who said I should be under 5. I haven't spoken to her yet, but she did up my Llevoxyl to 125 mcg. If this doesn't help I'll see and endo. dr.
thanks for the feedback!! I know you know how I'm feeling!!

Glad they have it all figured out, Pat! Now you can get back in gear and head closer to that goal of yours.
Oh I take my vitamins faithfully...and keep any apt I have with my surgeon's office....I wouldn't have it any other way...they actually have them waiting on my calls since my last apt, since my weight loss keeps dropping....they want me to call in if ANYTHING seems out of the ordinary, or if I have another large drop in a short time (then again, at this point any loss concerns me)
Keep us informed on how things are going!
Hugssssssssssssssssssssssss

Damn our stupid thyroid glands! *shakes fist*
I'm so glad you and your Doc got that figured out tho! Shots EVERY day? Oh you poor pincushion you! OWIE!
Question, do you chew your thyroid replacement med, first thing in the am, and have nothing to eat or drink for an hour afterwards? That's what my endo had me doing. (It didn't have any taste) Anyway, there is good news I think. My thyroid woke up, and started doing its job again, so I don't need the pills anymore Maybe yours will too!
Heres hopin!
*hugs*
