that is very weird, let us know what happens. I used Barix, and they were "in network" for my insurance company. My ins let me know the total max I would have to pay up front. It was $1200 and I didn't get a bill from Barix for over 3 months, So after I got the bill I just sent a couple hundred a month til it was paid. Maybe it is a mistake???? there might be another patient with your same name? That has happened at my hospital.

unfortunately, they were out of network for me but i was so insistent that i wanted to have them and i adore dr stelmack, so--i agreed to pay--i got my bill for 2600 and finally paid it off this fall after taking out a home equity loan--so this 2311 is a shocker! i am hoping taht a phone call monday will resolve it--i just was floored!

Hi Margo, I had my surgery at Barix on 02/17/04 with Dr. Stelmack also. I guess I'll be really checking my mail out since you got a bill from two years ago... I had had everything paid off by July of 2004 with the clinic. what kind of insurance did you have? I wonder if you'll have to be responsible for paying that bill. One would think if a bill was settled that long ago that you wouldn't be responsible for anything and that the clinic would just forgive it....will be interesting to see what happens with this As for the facility and the surgeon I have absolutely no complaints or problems with them at all. no complications from surgery or any health problems since......i was completely satisfied with the whole experience there and continue to have...... don't let this make you stress eat...and rambling is good.. I do it all the time. when you get all the information you'll be able to deal with it, I'm sure! Andi

Hi Margo, Same thing happened to me. It was the Bariatric Treatment Center when I had my surgery, also out of network, and the most i had to pay out of pocket was $1500. So I paid it...and THREE years later, I get a bill from Barix...actually two different bills on a alternating month basis....one for $2700, the next month one for $3200. Go figger? I loved the place and was more than happy to pay the $1500...but they aren't getting a penny more from me. I did my duty and paid what I owed.....where they are coming up with the other two figures, who knows. I figured something got messed up when they crossed over to Barix. Hope you get it worked out....in your favor, of course!! Teresa
