An anti-WLS group exists?

Hi kids! A freind of mine who has been following this ride of mine from the start asked me if I had heard of an anti-WLS group that has formed. He heard about it on a radio news cast. Any of you hear about this? kp @ goal

If you google anti-WLS you get a lot of hits but many of them regard Weight List Systems, whatever that is. The NAFTA (National Fat Acceptance Association) has initiated anti-weight loss Surgery diatribes from time to time. I guess I think anyone has the right in our society to be anti whatever; we don't have to agree or even be offended--just ignore them. Anewme (thanks to WLS)

These have been around for a while. That gal that used to post on the main boars, Dani something, is part of it and there is another gal I am familiar with named Sue Widemark. Those are two I can recall right off that have a huge group of followers.

kevin ive heard of a group that oh i hate the word fat ..fat acceptance and they are very anti weight loss surgery.. ya got all kooks out in the world so just add them to the list of anti any thing.. there used to be a woman here a few years ago who was a fear monger shed post about the horrible things getting wls would do and also try to scare people saying the morbid rate of surgery ugh in the words of my beloved 3 stogges bunch of nuckleheads ba haaaaaaaaaa joann

Oh my,,,, I went to the main page of their site. Yowie!!!!! I remember when I "accepted" my fat fate. I got real good at it. Here I am ******g and moaning about ten lbs on my profile - I tried to gain it, only got 8 and I have since lost that. What a whiner I have become. BTW - I can't get the stooges on my signature. NAAFA is very anti-WLS. Seems they only want people to accept you if you wish to remain fat...but not if you ever decide you need to lose it. This is part of their official position on the topic: "Since non-invasive treatments for comorbidity factors exist, the presence of comorbidity factors is not a valid justification for surgery. Wow did you see the last time that document was revised.... 1993!!! I suppose they never got around to updating it because the guy who wrote it had WLS and got a life. Michelle
