I'm sorry but aren't these things we grads already know? I wish you would post this on the main bard for all the newbies and pre-ops to read. Everyone should be well aware of these things long before they even go into surgery. Nice read tho.

Sadly there are way too many uninformed post-ops It's never TMI, IMHO Angie

Hard to believe tho isn't it? My surgeon went over every point in that article and even gave me a notebook with it all in it and I had to take a test on it to see if I knew what I was getting into. BUT, I already knew because I had done my own research.

Ditto here. I can't imagine not researching and learning as much as one could before going into something this huge. And I can't imagine surgeons not informing their patients properly either... I don't get it. Angie

THANK YOU! I had not read this post before and my Doctor nor nutritionist had told me what to eat, how much, how often and what NOT to eat or drink. Consequently, I have drank soda for the last 2 years (2 1/2 years post op). I had absolutely no idea!!!! I had lost 100 lbs but have now gained back 30 lbs. I hope that I havent' stretched my stomach by drinking the soda. I'm going to post to see if I should go back on a liquid diet for awhile and if that would help. If you have any suggestions, please email me. Thanks again for the posting...there are those of us who didn't have any good instruction. Cyndy

I think this is a well written article and points out things that I'm always amazed that someone (new or old) who's had the surgery are sometimes unaware of. This is major surgery with certinly more side effects than even what's listed. Hope you posted on the main board too -- haven't been out there yet. Anewme

Thanks for posting this link. I liked the very last line where it states "On a favorable note, the marriage appears likely to survive in most cases where the patient was of normal weight at the time of marriage". I wrote that down to share with my dh, LOL. He was very worried in the beginning and especially after he read the statistics, although we're doing wonderful now! It was an adjustment for him for sure. Thanks again! Tracy B 328/162/150
