Uuuughhhh! I've been working in four 8oz bottles of water in with my other fluids..trying to build up to 8 of the little bottles...I'm having a hard time. more often than not I get to the fourth one and my pouch revolts. I've managed to keep it down but not without protest. I'm less than a week from my TT and while I'm getting fluid in...I'm worried it won't be enough. The rest of my fluids are decaf Iced tea and various flavors of chrystal lite..I get close to 64oz but never quit all the way. Right now I just drank some water and I feel like I have a ball in my pouch. uuuggh. I'm considering calling my PCM Monday and seeing if I can go in for some IV fluids before surgery. I just don't know what else to do. Leslie

Hey Leslie, Is it possible instead of drinking the plain water to drink more crystal light? I know it all counts as fluids. I had mine done about 11 days ago and I did the same as you, upped the fluids and protein. So far, so good. Actually today I had a seroma (blood pocket under skin) which leaked out and scared the hell outta me. Talked to Dr. Warnock and he said it is normal. God bless him, he was with his grandkids and still talked to me. I will say a prayer for your upcoming surgery. If you are really worried about it I would see if they will do the iv fluids. Hugs, Bridget

Yeah I was thinking about just drinking more CL since water is just such a bother ...sigh..I used to love water so. I think I will call my PCM Monday and see if he will set up some IV fluids for me. Thanks for the prayers! Leslie

I don't think it matters what form your fluids are in as long as there isn't any caffine. Drink all Crystal Lite! PS really zaps your fluids. I ended up back at the hospital for 2 liters of IV 2 days after I got home. And I was drinking like crazy. So it's really important to be well hydrated before hand. And keep it up afterwards also.

Yep..I had trouble with dehydration when I the tonsillectomy...of course it was impossible to swallow but I still want to be in the best shape possible. Leslie

Soup counts ! I ALWAYS keep a soup pot going, sometimes 2 ! Chicken, turkey, beef, veggie; all de-fatted. I use alot of tomato juice, no salt. I do very little water...it just meets itself coming right back up...always has. So I get my liquids in, ANY way I can; and home-made soup broth has been the main way.

Leslie, My surgeon told me to consider any liquid wthout caffeine as water. I easly get 90 or so ounces a day and none of it is plain water. I had no problem with my tummy tuck or with either of my knee replacement surgeries. Patty
