Hi Tooter. Yesterday didn't go so well for me. B- 3 cups reg. coffee with a little 2% milk, 2 slices homemade banana bread (made with oatmeal for extra fiber). S- 1/2 oz. cheese, 1 oz. deli turkey breast, 6 saltine crackers. L- leftover homemade spaghetti and meatballs with a little mozerella cheese sprinkled on top, a small green salad with vinaigrette dressing and 1 piece bread. Later...here's where it starts to really go downhill: 2 chocolate chip cookies barbecue chips 4 "fun-size" chocolates D- 1 cup red beans and rice. Blech. Today is starting out like this: B- 3/4 cup Grape Nuts nuked in microwave with about 1/2 cup milk, 2 cups coffee with a little 2% milk. S- will be a low-sugar oatmeal bar L- will be chicken gumbo (staff meeting at work, lunch provided) S- will be an apple with peanut butter D- will be 2 slices homemade thin-crust pepperoni pizza Hopefully I can avoid grazing this afternoon, as that seems to be a problem time for me. Any ideas on some things I should do differently with my food (other than not grazing, and cutting out the chips, candy and chocolate, which I KNOW I shouldn't be doing?!) Hope you have a good day! oh boy, did you see the new Grape Nuts almond vanilla granola? *drool* I was going to try it until I saw the calorie count Ugh. Do you find that if you eat carby breakfasts you crave food more in the afternoon than if you stick to a more protein-dense breakfast? I only ask because that's been my experience. I try and have my oatmeal at night - I don't always succeed lol...but I try. Otherwise, boy am I hungry ALL day. Have a great day today!

Tooter, thanks for responding! I've actually done pretty well today; I've stuck to my eating plan, and NO GRAZING! I've been thinking about your point about the "carby" breakfasts, like oatmeal. While oatmeal keeps me physically full for a long time, sometimes my head gets "hungry", if that makes sense. It doesn't happen every time I eat oatmeal, but I do tend to have some carbs as part of my breakfast every day. I noticed that you eat string cheese a lot for breakfast, so while I was at the store today I picked up a bag and I will give it a try! BTW, thanks for the heads-up on the new Yogurt Grape Nuts. I had seen them advertised and was wondering about them, but I should have know they sounded too good to be true ... sigh! Lelina

yeah, the head hunger is what I was referring to. If I eat just my cheese for breakfast (or with a pickle) I don't get the horrible head hunger...whereas if I eat oatmeal early in the day - wham! The head hunger hits. Yuck lol. Anyway, let me know how you like the cheese It's my life saver! YEAH on no Grazing! Good for you!

Read my reply above your post to Lelina..about carbs (Oatmeal) for breakfast. Just curious if that's your experience too or if I'm just weird.

Hiya Tooter! I lurk the grad board, but never post. If I have finally reached a normal BMI, does that make me a grad? Anyway.... I saw your post about carbs in the a.m. and just wanted to chime in... I'm the same way. If I eat carbs in the morning or even mid-day I find myself ravenous and searching for food all day. This past week, I experimented with having oatmeal w/ a scoop of protein powder in it for dinner every night. This worked out very well for me. I could be wierd too! Pam

I had an excellent day yesterday. I am motivated by an upcoming trip to Hawaii. The size 12 speedo fits and I am determined that it will be my uniform while in the islands for two weeks. Even if I stay this same size, I don't want to feel bloated and "round." Being out of synch does that to me. Heading for Seattle for the weekend to see our kids so I will be busy busy busy and not thinking of food. (I don't count stuff. I just do the best I can, meal to meal, hour to hour some days.) xoxooxo tee

LOL I know that Speedo makes many types of bathing outfits, but I always picture some older dude with a small beer gut and hit SMALLER Speedo lolol. I hope you have a BLAST in Hawaii!

oy gevalt! Those only look good on Olympic swimmers. Even then, not all of them.......... Hawaii is not until March. We are cashing in 100 years of mileage points and staying in base lodging at Pearl Harbor, which is very inexpensive. My husband is much more excited than I am. But, after all this rain, even I am looking forward to it (I am a sackcloth and ashes type, lol, not into fancy stuff unless it is on clearance ) tee
