night time eating
Hi Grads..
Heres my question. How do you curb night time eating ? I work 12 hr shifts at the hospital and eat my breakfast lunch and dinner there
but at night .. I get so hungry .. I ll have peanut butter (one tablespoon right off the spoon) then maybe some sf icecream then maybe an hour later Ill be craving salty crunchy and Ill have some cashews.
I still have about 30 lbs to loose to m y goal and this night time snacking is what is keeping me from loosing those last 30 lbs.
I tried eating more dense foods.. like Oatmeal or cheeze but I wake up an hour after I go to sleep .. hungry. Any suggestions?
Dawn
how about eating some roast beef or turkey from the deli roll it up with cheese
i know this sucks the hungry horrorrs after going to bed..
and its not in your head ..
someytimes a hour before i go to bed and this helps me because before surgery i would eat a nother meal before going to bed
i usually have a bowl of oatmeal the one in the drum made with milk
its thicker i sweeten it with splenda and it holds me over for night i feel content
its not as damaging
funny thing how no mattere how we try to do the right thing something always haunts us
ugh
have a good day and see that cute qwacker guy at night

Dawn you look awesome...I am night eating too....But I have done the protein bars and shakes for these times and it seems to help to take the edge off. The shake is cheaper in calories so depending on the day's eating activities tells me which I can have. Dense foods should help....chicken, pork, etc. no carbs at night would probably be the better way to go.

I thought it was just me! I am able to control myself all day and then I get so hungry at night, I feel like a maniac. I start with a BIG cup of hot decaf tea (that fills me up for an hour or so), then I have been munching carrots with lo-fat dip and will also add in my jello concoction when necessary. One gets the sweet thing and the other the crunchy/salty. The "problem" is that I am actually hungry. Not head hunger but a physical hunger. **groan** I have never tried protein drinks at night. I never thought of it but, honestly, I have this crunchy/chewing thing that seems to kick in but I'm willing to try it. I'll look forward to any and all other suggestions, too.

I have the exact same problem. I'm good all day get in 180fl oz of water I make the best choices on meals and after 9 or 10 at night it's real hunger pains. I got in the bad habit of having toast which is bad cause carbs just make me more hungry. People suggested to me going to bed more early but that did not help either. I tried a protein drink at 10pm and that didn't curb it either. I want crunchy chewy things and every night I'm battling with myself over this for if I don't eat anything I'm starving and if I do eat anything I feel like I'm failing myself and have no will power and throwing away all my progress. I'm not sure what people do to fight this late night thing.
Hahahahahahaaahahahahahaahahah
Ya know I just recently redid my profile over cause I wanted something more fun that said "Me" to it so I added in the YoYo and Hoops from Hallmark and I LOVE the band Bowling For Soup.
I have been really excited about my loss and now I'm just hoping to see goal sometime in the new year. Many thinks for all the compliments I went and checked out your profile and WOW! Your looking fantastic! Way to go wild woman!~
This is purely a guess based on nothing but personal trial and error...take a look at how many calories and the quality of nutrition that you are eating during the day. Perhaps you are somewhat deficient either in necessary intake or the overall quality of choices.
BTW, when I eat oatmeal, it creates pretty much a bottomless pit waiting to be filled by anything and everything. However, when I pair oatmeal with an egg (I put my over easy egg in the bowl of oatmeal) then I have a long lasting satisfaction.
I don't know of a simple answer...
