Home from the hospital with 5 new ow-ies!
Tooter may remember how on Tuesday of this week I wrote that today HAD to be a better day? Boy was I wrong! Right after I posted to her thread about keeping it honest daily progress, I had some oatmeal, and 15 minutes after having that oatmeal I was bent over pain howling to be taken to the hospital.
They spent the entire day Tuesday giving me tests, and demerol, and anti-nausea medication, and then the Dr FINALLY and THANKFULLY turned me over to Bariatric Drs at another hospital. So I was transported there and taken to the Bariatric ward, (cool huh?) and met my soon-to-be surgeon. She was so cool, and told me that my gallbladder needed to come out, but while she was in there she was going to look around, make sure I didn't have an internal hernias, and also do an endoscopy.
So surgery was scheduled for the next day. At about 10PM last night I got back to my room. I was really out of it, so I didn't really understand what was done to me until today. She did remove my gallbladder which was necessary, because of stone, and some sort of chemical in my body was elevated (the name eludes me right now), but when she tried to scope me, her camera wouldn't go past my pouch! It kept going into the little leftover limb thingy, thats a dead end. She decided to cut that sucker down a bit, as she suspects that food may have been getting trapped in there and causing me to throw up, and have that "stucK" feeling so much.
Soooooo... Tooter, you were kinda right! Something HAS been wrong this whole time. Not a stricture, but kinda sorta simliar!
Here I am at home the day after surgery with 5 new holes in my belly, and feeling WAYYYYY better than Tuesday! Let me tell you, that was the worst pain I have ever experienced in my whole entire life. And I was in a major car accident a few years back that left me homebound for almost a year! On Tuesday, this 40 year old woman was crying in agony. I didn't know such pain was even possible! BLEH
More good things have come out of this. I got to talk to a brand new post-op while I was there, and hopefully I wasn't too stoned and made sense to her. lol And the practice I was referred to has a support group I can go to if I want. So I am going to push myself to do that.
And now I must go cuddle my cats, they missed mama something awful!

I hope you are feeling better. I had my gall bladder out at the age of 19 and that was the worst pain I've ever felt....until the gastric bypass. I'm sure you will be back on your feet soon. You are in my well wishes!!!

P.S. I am a veterinary nurse so I can relate with kitty babies...give them hugs for me:}
