I guess I am supposed to be here...
Hi there, I am new to this particular board, but I was steered here saying this is where I belong being a WLS Grad.
Here is my issue, maybe you can help.
I am 26m PO and I also have a post WLS baby of 9 months that was Breastfed up until about 6 weeks ago.
Since she abandoned ship on nursing I was able to go back to a more POST WLS diet for me and not be as concerned for the "total" calories.
I was 181 when I delivered and then i went up to 194 out of nowhere, doc says possible fat storage for nursing. I joined a gym a few weeks ago, and have been going three days a week. When i am there, I bike 1-2 miles and I walk on the tread mill at 3mph for 1-2 miles. I also do some strength training on my knees and do some lower torso exercises. All in all I am there an hour working out. I have gone back to eating my small portions and making better WLS choices. In the last two weeks I GAINED 2lbs and now am up to 196, what gives.
Yesterdays Meals were:
B- slice of veggie pizza
S-Water and about 15 pretzel sticks
L-3 mozz sticks
S-few bites of a birthday cake (yes I know, doesn't help)
D-turkey club, only ate a 1/2 made on regular white bread (with bacon, lettuce and tomato)
Not to mention I drink atleast 8 20ounce glasses of water a day.
Now please keep in mind, my surgeon was of the belief that my diet should be balanced on ALL the food groups just maintained within my portion size of course and not to have sugary treats often, but an occasional is allowed.
Can anyone help me, am I eating too much, not eating enough, drinking too much, not drinking enough, I want to get to 150, but I would really be happy at 180 if thats where my body decides it will stay.. But atleast I gotta get off these 16lbs for heavens sake.
TIA..
PS (now that it was brought to my attention I realize that alot of what I ate yesterday had salt in it, but being that I never add salt to anything, I never thought of the salt already in those items.)
Have you tried tracking your nutrient/caloric intake on fitday.?
It's easy and really puts in perspective what you have taken in....this would be good especially if your surgeon prefers the balanced diet over the supplement. You might look at your breads....pizza?, Sandwich? pretzels? cake? even the cheese sticks had a breaded coating. Five out of your 5 foods had a flour content.
I think you can get to that goal....you've done so well and have a beautiful child. Congratulations! Someone once said you only fail when you quit trying....

Personally my weight loss always speeded up when I ate the most protein. Dense protein (steak, pork loin, chicken,) keeps me full longer too.
Everybody has to figure out their own plan, but I'd be gaining weight if I included the # of carbs you ate. Some peoples bodies don't metabolize carbs as well as others so some can eat them while others have to stay away from them to lose weight.
You can still finish losing your weight, just hang in there and keep changing the diet until you find what works for you.
Best of luck to you.
I am not expert....but I say this, I am willing to bet after having a baby and nursing, your body is on a rollercoaster. I'd give it some time to settle down a little and keep doing what you are doing.
I have no room to offer advise, or what is how I FEEL....but I am sure that your OBGYN might have more answer for you in reference to the unexplained weigh****er gain, and point it to the pregnancy.

Hi!
It looks to me that you are low on protein and high on refined carbs (pizza crust, pretzels, white bread). I would ditch those white carbs and concentrate on upping low fat protein and veggies. Stick with whole grains. I've found that even if I eat low cal, if it's not the right things, I won't lose. I know that it goes against the "calories in, calories burned" way of thinking, but dang it, I've always been that way.
I would recommend the South Beach Diet book. Great healthy eating for a post-op. Jump to phase II if you like (and can't hack phase I... it's the hardest). Lots of low fat protein and 'good' carbs like veggies, whole grains, and fruit.
You can add the treats in when you get to goal
