Fun! I remember having some kida spray foam in colors for the bathtub when I was a kid. Now the only foam in the tub is natural jacuzzi. I've heard it refered to as saliva sludge too. HA!!! great stuff! kp @ goal

I get the faomies from most pork products. They sit in my pouch until I am spitting up just foam. Eventually the meat moves along, but it feels like hec****il then. Most of the time I am curled up in a ball or hanging over the toilet spitting until it moves.....NO FUN! Tammy

Well I've never had this happen so I guess that explains why I didn't know what it was. But now I guess I should ask the obvious -- what causes it?

"FOAMIES"- Slang term for a condition caused When you plug your stoma with something And the saliva, No longer has an exit below It naturally comes out the one above. Can be caused by Eating too fast, Not chewing well enough and Swallowing something to big To go through the stoma and Into you intestines. For me? Bread is a bad one. Particularly soft bread. (One horrible afternoon with a bit of New York Bagel- "My Subway ride from Hell!!) Even when you chew it well Bread can "gum-up" and plug your stoma. Take a pinch of white bread And try to mu**** up in your fingers. Since your pouch isn't Adding stomach juices to the mix, This is the same thing Pretty much that happens To bread in your pouch. Swallowing a large pill can do it too. Meat (Dry Chicken or pork get a lot of folks) That is not chewed thoroughly Can plug in for quite a while. Many folks claim that Sipping ho****er or tea Will speed its passing. With some meat tenderizer in it - Papaya Enzyme (buy at health food store) it certainly seems to. Enough for this post, Working to stop sooner and close these little Strips of text on the side of my screen While working! Best Wishes- Dx

We don't have stomach acid anymore so when something sits in the pouch and you can't digest it or it needs to come up the chewed up food comes up with the foam part of the stomach juice. It's like baby spit up. It's usually from something getting stuck and the stomach trying to shoot it back out or something that didn't agree with your stomach and it can't or won't digest it. I haven't had it for years - forgot all about it till this question came up.

RNY on 12/15/03 with
Hi there PJ, I had my RNY on 12/15/03. I have done well to me. I have been at "GOAL" for over 1 year now. I started my journey at 245 lbs and now I weigh between 135-145 lbs. I am at the high end of it now but at 5ft6 I still look slim. I have given myself that name of "Foamies" and thought only I had it until reading your post. I get that when I eat Ice Cream or alot of chocolate. I can eat Klondike No Sugar Added Bars, but if I eat from the box any ice cream, with no portions, I get the FOAMIES" I begin to but only foam comes out and I feel so sick. I go to bed and after a while it stops. It takes a few times of . No more ice cream in my house. I am glad I am not alone with this. It's a bad experience, but it's a relief to know that my WLS is working for me.It is telling me stay away from stuff that has lots of fat...... Whip Cream also. I guess its the fat. Take care Lorraine
