Keeping it honest - Sunday
you sound as if you're doing good actually.
Some things to remember about the body calculator. It doesn't take into account bone density - if you've been overweight a substantial number of years, you could EASILY weigh an extra 10 to 15 pounds from heavier bones. No amount of dieting can change that - not taking your calcium could But that's baaad lol. Also it doesn't take into consideration any excess skin you may be carrying around.
If your doc says stop - then for goodness sakes, stop Brat!

You do know they have a decaff french vanilla - yes? Of course I use the regular or decaff (whichever is in stock/on sale) and add it to my regular leaded coffee hehe
Oooh Macadamia fat is good for the skin (in small amounts). Looks a good day! I LOVE SPanish rice! You should try my MIL's - her Spanish rice *gasp* recipe is 1 pot of 'boiled' white rice + 1 large can of tomato sauce and 1 large onion chopped. That's it. Gag lol.
Hi Tooter Here I am with another question. Someday I might get this food stuff figured out LOL. Ok, the doctor wants me to take 1/2c o.j. and 1/2 banana each day for low potassium. Now with the carbs being about 25 for the two, whatis a good goal for me as far as carbs? I do not eat a lot of white carbs but how do I figure good vs bad? Thanks for any help you can give and sorry to take up your time with yet another question. Hugs, Betty
A good carb (or rather a better carb lol) is unprocessed whole food - vegetables are probably the best carbs (in my opinion) followed by lower sugar fruits, followed by hearty whole grains.
Anyway, I get very frustrated by docs that recommend orange juice or bananas for potassium. I mean if you LOVE them - once in a while is great...but why take in more added sugar into your diet when there are 'better' foods to get your potassium from?
Here's a quick comparison:
* Orange Juice (1/2 cup - raw juice NO sugar added) = 10 grams of sugar and 248 mg potassium
* Banana (1/2 medium banana - about a 3.5 inch piece/58 gram weight) = 7 grams of sugar and 211 mg potassium
Now here are some options you could ask your doc about:
* Avocado (raw any kind commercial - 1/4 of one or /50 gram weight) = 0 grams of sugar and 230 mg potassium
* Tomato Juice (canned, no salt added - 1/2 cup) 4 grams of sugar and 278 mg potassium
* Milk (2%, 1/2 cup) 6 grams of sugar and 224 grams of potassium
* Top Sirloin (3 ounces) 0 sugar and 313 grams potassium
* Chicken breast (3 ounces) 0 sugars and 217 grams of potassium
* Cantaloup (1/2 cup diced) 6 sugars and 208 grams potassium
This is just to give you an idea that there are MANY other options with less sugar and often more potassium. Granted milk and cantaloup aren't necessarily better than orange juice or bananas - but if you want something different - and day after day of bananas and oj would drive me nuts lol...at least you have options.
