Awe shucks ... you all are just amateurs. What I ate today would be enough to curl Teks toes or his lovely green ears, or perhaps even a green eye or two! BTW - Who was it that said? ... "Let em eat cake!"

Q: Who was it that said? ... "Let em eat cake!" A: It is purported to be Marie Antoinette, an aristocrat who found her way to guillotine during the French Revolution. The statement came in response to a statement that the poor did not have bread to eat. It is the gold standard for measuring the indifference of the wealthy to the plight of the poor and dispossessed. Nowhere Man/PH/Jay

Jay, Thanks so much! A post-op friend and I were talking and the phrase came up, and yet we could not put the cir****tance or name with the phrase. We googled it and found all kinds of information on that phrase, but could not put a finger on the origin. Perhaps it was too late in the day, and I was too tired to think or search with a clear mind, but I was amazed to find that there are bands, music, and even musicals just to name a very few of the many results I got when I googled that catch phrase. It was one of those things that started out small, but grew when we could not find what we were looking for. I guess I should have been able to put it out of my mind, but didn't. I had hoped that one of the great minds here would have the information at their fingertips! And you did, and then some. Thanks again! I appreciate your help! Tammy

I don't mind giving up the thread, if someone else wants to continue it. Just as with the "Secret Buddy" thread, I do not have what it takes to keep a daily thread going. Everything I posted was TRUE (Noting that I did not often mention quantites), and I can't continue eating to entertain the masses I don't post in "what I ate" threads for this reason, too many people would think I am ridiculing. I will admit one instance I was making fun... When I talked about regular soda having less carbonation than diet (which seems true to me) and not wanting to stretch my pouch (ridiculous). Again... ALL TRUE, it was just "safer" to share as a lie (read the preamble to the posts again). Tek
