I am a fun gramma! I cannot believe how much easier it is to be patient with grandkids than I was with my own. I have fun with them even to the extent of going down the slides and climbing thru the tunnels at the park with them. When we were at the pool I was the only "grown up" on the water slides. I have a much better idea of what is really important vs what is not worth the energy now than I did when my kids were little. I have been raising my 7 y/o grandson since he was really little and my son who is a young single parent was given custody. I cared for my grandson so my son could finish college and work. He lived in my house til only a few months ago and I still have him before and after school every day. I also have done daycare with my grand daughter who belong to my daughter since her divorce. I am so lucky to be able to have such a close relationship w/ my babies!

I really do not like too much about myself and never have. I am hoping for some change in my opinion of me after plastics this month. I have always had an issue of being nice to me. I have lots of great things to say about others but when it comes to me, forget it. Sorry to ramble on. Betty By the way, you look great!!!!!

Maybe make a list of the nice things you say about others and apply them to you. When I could not think of anything other than my good housekeeping skills for my therapist she asked me what was positive about my grandlkids , i listed off about 10 things in 10 seconds, she wrote them all downand said they equally apply to me. I carry the list with me in my wallet at all times to help me remind myself. I know there is something wonderful about you and that you will share it with me! When are your plastics, My last will be 1/21

Hi Willow... It has taken me this long to think. I guess I can say that one thing good about me is that I really like almost everyone. I find good in everyone and also I am a very clean person LOL.People say a lot of nice things about me but I have a hard time believing them. My plastics to remove my apron is Jan. 26 and he will remove 30+ pounds. I hope I like me better when that is removed. Thanks for being here for me. Hugs, Betty

write down the nice things people are saying and refer to the list now and then. When someone compliments you, take it at face value, if they didn't believe it they would just not say anything!! finding the good in others and being clean are very positive qualities! Just imagine the whole world if everyone found something good in their fellow humans! I am so happy for you getting Your TT. It makes a big differnce on how you feel about the outside of you. The inside, well not so easy - which is why I starrted this thread.

Aren't grandchildren, and being able to share their lives, the most amazing thing? So what do I like about myself? Joy. I have lots of joy. And optimism, which I also have a lot of. I don't define myself by single imperfections of body, mind or spirit--of which there are many. I may prefer those imperfections be less imperfect, but I don't allow them to define me. I am a package deal and in balance, I don't think it's such a bad deal. \ Ann

I have a great smile which you can't see in my picture. I am also positive and affirming, particularly to other people. And I am a good mother, wife and teacher. I want to be an AWESOME grammy but someone needs to talk to my son about marrying his girlfriend! Judi

My positive affirmation for today is: I am...oh hell, I don't have one for today. I'm grumpy, tired and worn down. So not sure what I could say positive about me. How did your grandon's speech therapy stuff go? Work it out ok?

It is positive that you are honest with your feelings and don't have to pretend I left a message w/ the special ed coordinater and she has yet to call back. the school district has transferred him to a private school as they cannot meet his needs in the public school. the private school does not have speech or OT ****upational therapy, they are to assess him for for sensory integration disorder) The private school said generally the public schools use a contract OT who comes in to the private school to provide services, and I have no idea how they plan to meet his IEP on the speech therapy. arg!

Geez, at least they HAVE and are recognizing his IEP. My son had one and at the end of the first 1/4 not one of his teachers had seen it, let alone read or responded to it. Kept saying they had to have a meeting with me, councelors and all teachers. I called so many times to schedule these meetings. Finally started calling the teachers independently. They had NO idea he was bipolar, had delayed motor skills or anything. Ugh. Anyway, I'll keep good thoughts that they get this taken care of in an expedient and HELPFUL fashion for him! (((HUGS))) and thank you for your words!
