I lived in Africa for three years and was told the word for friend was "Sadeek." When we got back to the States (1965) we had Siamese cat adopt us and we called her Sadeek. It was unique so I liked it. DeeDee

The emphasis is in the second syllable. And you're right, the second syllable sounds like leek. Sa-DEEK. DD

I've seen the musical Cats several times in London & in the US when our children were young. My son & I loved the character named Mr. Mestopoleeze (I can't spell). So when we adopted a kitten several years ago, we named HER Mrs. Mestopoleeze & called her Missy. We enjoyed Missy's companionship for many years and miss her still. Enjoy your new family member! Remember, the ancient Egyptians worshiped cats as gods..... Cats have never forgotten this!! Vickie J.

I have 2 cats, one named Taz, short for Tazmainian Devil, and he is a mean old man (12yrs), the other is Zoey who is sweet and lovable (3yrs). In the near future I am thinking of getting a dog, and with my love of coffee, male or female the name will be JAVA. I work with a lady who's son named their cat Mr. Waffles (its from a song?) Growing up we rescued a cat that someone tied to a street sign post. The street name was Muffin, so thats what we named him. Where did you find your new friend, that might give her a unique name? Maybe name her after a character from your favorite movie, cartoon, or the funnies? Happy Hunting Michelle

Nameing a pet is so much fun. we put a lot of thought and effort into all our pets. we had a ****ateil named tobias. got that out of a book called Anamorphs, were these kids could change into any animal, the boy, Tabias, got stuck in a Hawks body so since it was a bird... We had a greed Iguan, named Jade We had a tri colored Collie, we did not want to name her lassie so we kind of comprimized and called her Bonnie kind of like a Bonny Lass had a mixed black lab named Wendy, just liked the name had a Rotwiller named Mojo. loved that pup but our insurance would not let us have her. We have a black cat we got from the pound, her name is Jinx...felt this was good for a black cat. then we have a gray and whilte cat, named Goliath, He is not really that big but he thinks he is... we have a pair of mutts, we got them from a rescue place, they are litter mates but look nothing alike except they are both black. We got them the same day I got the new Mario racing game for Nintendo system, so we named the larger male Bowser and the little fiesty girl Princess... It may take a few days but she will TELL you her name.... boy did i ramble on.... Donna 277/144
