I'm satisfied with how I did yesterday. Total calories was 1,308, protein was 114 and carbs were 94. Did about 45 minutes of exercise and that was good for me. So are you going to keep counting the days, Tooter, so that we can look forward to your post "Keeping It Honest - Day 158?" or will you start over each week? Jan

hm considering I've been counting cheese sticks into the 1000's - odds are highly favorable, that I'll keep a tally on this so long as I do it lol. OCD can be a real curse sometimes! Your day looked good!

ooh I have to share on the Weight Control Carb issue. I don't know if you read my newsletters or not, but I wrote a column called Don't Be Duped...which focused on these so-called better for us 'diet' foods. What a rip-off. About 1/2 way down the page, I broke it down by grams and just how much better *cough* they are supposed to be compared to how they are NOT truly any better for us than regular. Hi Tooter, I was hesistant to post on here becuase I feel like my eating is way off but here goes so far for today...please give me your honest input because I am really stuggling with the feelings that I am not doing so good with my eating these days. 2 cups coffee with cream and splenda 1.5 scrambled egg w/about 1/2 oz of cheese, slice of bacon and 1/2 of a small flour tortilla handful of pistachios small chili fm wendys and a side cesar salad w/the crutons and cesar dressing 1 small granny smith apple and 2tbs peanut butter it is only 2:00pm and this is what I have eaten so far..the best I can figure I am already at 1200 cals and I still have 7 hours before I go to bed, lol. I seem to want to eat all the time. I am not drinking with my meals, waiting 30mins to start drinking again. I am getting 90-100 oz of fluids ea day and take my vit and calcium. Take care, Melissa

To me...that's kind of the point of 'keeping it honest'. I think too many (especially newer postops) have unrealistic expectations that their appetite won't EVER return...that they'll always get full on 4 ounces of food - and while that is true for some - it seems to be the minority. So this thread HOPEFULLY may show the newer postops and recently graduated that food can still be an issue, that appetites can return, that we can gain from poor choices, that we can eat SOME crap (some of us do lol), etc. Ya know? So I THANK YOU for being brave and posting! Now do you want some ideas one why you may be hungry all the time and why you're already at 1200 calories? Fat really adds calories. The 1/2 burger I ate today - it wasn't really a lot of food, but due to the high fat content I popped an easy 300 calories. Now, I am NOT anti-fat. I think good fats are important in the diet, but generally the fat in restaurant cooking is not the good fats. The Caesar dressing, while low in sugar and carbs, is high in fats and calories. For the 28 gram serving of dressing its 120 calories and they ALL come from fat and that's 13 grams of fat. Just for 2 tablespoons of dressing. Ack! A Wendy's small chili (which is often mostly liquid and passes through the pouch rather quickly) is 220 calories - that's 27 calories per ounce of food (mostly liquid remember). And it gets 60 calories from the fat (and that's before you add in the totals for the cheese, if you add it). Anyway, when you tally the chili, the salad, the dressing and croutons - you're lunch was 50% fat. 480 total calories; 240 from fat. You would have probably been full longer with the baked potato w/ broccoli and cheese sauce. Same amount of calories, but only 26% of it from fat. or had the same salad but one of the light dressings. The ranch has a few more carbs (6) but less than 1/2 the calories and the fat ratio is 70% instead of 100%. Ok, whew. I am not picking on you - and I hope you'll keep posting. The only reason I mention the above at all was your comment that you feel hungry. While fats in general ARE filling, you have to weigh the calories along with it to determine if it's worth it. And if the food choice is leaving you hungry, then the calories from THIS fat isn't worth it (to me). Fat from solid cheese IS worth it to me, because it - the food - sticks with me longer. I can eat 4 ounces of moz cheese and I'm good to go for 3+ hours. I eat about every 3 hours. Anyway, there is more I could say, but I don't want you to feel I'm beating up on you lol...so I'll hush up now. Overall - your day isn't awful. But you've got to do something to ward of the hungries. (((HUGS))) and hope you post again!

Hi Tooter.. Thank you so much...I do not at all feel beat up on, this is exactly the kind of feedback I am looking for. I am so unsure of what to eat and hwo to stay full long enough not to want to snack. I seem to get hungry so fast and my weight loss has stopped. I did loose 5lbs last week due to a stomach flu but they found me again this week, lol. I am back at 158lbs and want to get to my goal of 150lbs. I was such a "good" patient for the first year but it was easy to be good when it did not take alot to fill me. Now I have noticed that I can eat more but not enough to keep me full for too long, I seem to be hungry within 2 hours of eating if not sooner. Also the holidays got the best of me and I really over did the sweets and junk and am struggling with those cravings. I will continue to post and I hope you will continue to give me constructive feedback..I have thick skin I can take it, lol. Thanks again! Melissa
