negative article on aol about gastric by pass
Joann, what happened to those titanium ovaries of yours!??!! I was NOT making fun of you AT ALL, I was making fun of AOL!!!!!! It was not a criticism of you, either!!! AOL isn't an expert on almost anything, and this was NO exception! I also found the article (as you pointed out) to be negative and inaccurate. I didn't say that YOU relied on AOL for medical information!!!
What bothered me most about your reply, though, was that you think "with you it's always tit for tat with my postings". I don't know what I've said to offend you, but I assure you, it was NEVER my intention!!! I have a dry sense of humor, but I never, ever want to say anything mean spirited to you, Joann!!
I hope you will accept my most sincere apology for anything I've said or done that you think was against you!

Joann--I thought about whether to email you and then decided I should just post this for all to read. I feel like I can understand where you were coming from with your response, as my husband tends to react the same way as you did. When I am ranting and raving about something TO him--he tends to think I am ranting and raving AT him, ABOUT him. I really think you misinterpreted people's comments regarding your post. Really I don't think you should take people's responses regarding the article as anything personal. I believe most of the people were responding negatively regarding a quickie artcile on AOL--not anything to do with you. Other's may have felt the article wasn't negative--again not meant personally. Me--I think little things like that are never gonna give a broad view of all of the pros and cons of wls. BTW--there are people on here who I feel like they sit and wait for me to post so they can post an opposite opinion--I hope that is just my paranoia, but if it isn't--whateva!
I've met you in person so I know you are a sweetheart. I've watched Jan's journey and corresponded with her--I can tell she, too, is a sweetheart. I just can't picture her doing what you seemed to think she does. It is so very hard to tell people's intentions when reading posts on a mb--but in this case I just feel like a negative intention was not what was meant.
We all know there are some negatives and we had to weigh both the positives and negatives when making the choice to commit to wls. If I had been able to lose weight without choosing surgery I would have. I couldn't lose it without the help of a tool--so I chose this. I wish every article on the subject would highlight the pros AND cons of the surgery-not just focussing on the negatives.
I hope you don't stop posting stuff for his to read and comment on. Hope all is well--and oh--it is really cold down here--upper 30's!
hey JoAnne, just want to say I just read this thread and I agree with the last poster (oops forgot to get her name) This was a misunderstanding.
I'm relatively new and I have read lots of your posts and I would hate to lose you from these boards.
It really is hard to give/or get the attitude of something written. It takes a lot of work, time and pictures and etc. to convey the spirit of the written word. I hope you will chalk it up to that, give it all the benefit of the doubt and let it go. We would miss you.
Worse I don't want you to have a bad taste in your mouth (no pun intended) about these people or this board.
