The ice cream in my freezer. There it is.... in my freezer. All frozen, and creamy, and I want it. I've not had a single lick of ice cream since that ill fated attempt at sugar free ice cream about a month after surgery. (I puked for hours) I want to wrench it from it's cozy spot, throw it in the backyard and watch it melt. But, it's not mine. It's my husbands. I want to kick everyone who told me this gets easier with time. Hell, I want to smack myself for every time I've told a new post-op that. Someone light a candle for me or something. Michele

Hey....when I just can't stand it anymore....I just gotta have some ice cream.....I go get a small container of vanilla tofutti. I put about a half cup in a dish...sprinkle some granola over it (I'm on a granola kick) and eat it. Its sooo rich you won't know its not ice cream.....and it satisfies that craving. I'll make the pint last a week or so...then I don't want it again for a looooong time. There is a pint of Haagen Daaz Swiss Almong Vanilla in my freezer....and I don't even think about it.... sadly, what usually gets EASIER is EATING...what we 'can' eat. So that makes it harder lol. I keep sugar-free fudgecicles around for that RARE time when I crave ice cream. I'm not big on ice cream, thank goodness! Oh another thing I LOVE is frozen no-sugar-added banana or coconut cream pie.

Me too Tooter...I don't crave ice cream much....and if I'm out....I can leave it alone....not a problem for me.....HOWEVER If I'm at Stonewood's...and they bring that little basket of fresh hot crusty sourdough bread.....I'm a goner. I make Doug break off a small piece for me then keep the basket out of my reach....and no matter how much I beg and plead and bat my eyelashes and cry and roll on the floor and kick my feet and whine....he won't give me any more..... Hugs Charlie

Oh Charlie! You made me laugh! We do the same thing around here. Only first I have to have the strength to hand over to John the thing that must be kept from me. Cause I know once I hand it to him, theres no turning back! *hugs* Michele

Looks like I am joining the Charlie & Tooter band wagon this fine morn. I can leave ice cream ... not the slightest temptation, ever ... BUT bring on the fresh bread and I am jelly (sugar free of course) in anyones hands. I simply melt ... it is scary and a shame that something so small has such a hold on me! I have finally decided that when I go out, I plan for it and I eat the bread! Case solved. BTW - It helps A LOT that I don't go out much! Good to see you around again Charlie, I still think you are absolutely radiant!!! Hugs, Tammy

Yeah Tooter, you said a mouthful. I don't like this easier thing. Not one little bit. I've never seen sugar free banana or coconut cream pie. Is that the kind you make with sugar free jello stuff? Do you think sugar free pudding would freeze to a decent consistency? Michele

Oh I make them all the time! Soo good! I have the recipes here for them: http://www.bariatricbytes.com/desserts.html I have the No-Sugar-Added Banana Cream Pie (w/Variations) - freezes really nice! Oh and watch the tofutti if you don't do soy It's made from tofu, hence the name.
