As a grad can I get in on the biggest change I'm thankful for? (Love consignment shops myself - right now i"m on a boot buying binge).
I have self confidence I didn't have before. My family and friends are amazed at what I will try or want to do that I never would have before. If someone wants to try anything (except hang gliding or bungie jumping) I'm there. I've done more in the past 4 years than I've done in the last 40 years. I'm also thankful I had a skilled experienced surgeon who took the time to educate me and give me a tool I can use for life. \

Joann....my slorkorama.....you are right about stopping the complaining and all that stuff....personally I do not read that stuff anymore and I do have different issues being I am this year going to come up on year #4. I made myself a vow to try and stay out of the bs and just live everyday as if I won't be here tomorrow and I say this because I want to live the rest of my life to the fullest and I am so grateful for wls and friends like you! and
You bet life is a ride Slork in more ways than one
slork..its getting to old for me.,you know i was so excited when they decided to have a grads boards figuring we have differnt issues and stuff than pre-ops and new post -ops ..we can share some of our hurdles we have now..personally i dont give a rats azz what others are eating ..ive struggled myself and quickly learned..
i have enough drama in my life i dont come here for dramaand the bs..
i dont go to my surgeons support group meetings because its geared to new post-ops n new pre-ops so i dont go if im at a meeting and new post ops repeat the same qwestion do i stand up and say shut up give it a break?

Hi Joanne,
I am a "new" grad as I am just a little over one year out...I am glad you posted this as I look forward to coming here to see whats going on with others who are further out. I have really great this past year, only this past holiday season did I start to fall off the wagon a bit, but I am getting back on track.
Due to a killer case of the stomach flu this past weekend I am 2.5lbs away from my goal!! However I am sure since alot of it was fluid loss I am sure a bit will come back on but for now I am 152.2lbs,that is less than when I was 15yrs old and I feel great!
Take care,
Melissa

Hey Melissa...welcome and how awesome you have done!! As the years stack up after wls you will definitely find that your issues surrounding wls will change. It is probably something that is very ingrained in me now and it is just who I am. I just know that wls saved my life and that it is not my life if that makes any sense to you. Joann and many of us here know how to eat and what not to eat and sometimes even crossing that line and eating something when we know we shouldn't because we will get sick or just because it really shouldn't be an option for us, but we are all human and to be human is to er.
So I wish you a lot of continued success with your path that you have choosen to live and maintain a healthy lifestyle!

Converts are the worst on practicers of their (former) sin
The convert believes they have "found it,", "got it", "released it," or just about any other "verb it", which puts them ahead of those that have not verbed it. The convert so consumed by their new it, they assume/presume that everyone is trying to verb it.
People that have never hand the need to convert, have always been it, often have a more balanced view, if they have a view about it at all, since they have not really had to change. I wonder what a "Never a Weight Problem" message board would look like?
The MO mentality, as personified on the Main Board, is one thing Grads need to learn to deal with. Apparently, based on the volume and frequency, it is an issue that many Grads are grappling with.
As such, it will be talked to death here. As with all things, we each will do it differently, some healthy, others not so. Some positive, some negative.

Hmmm, not sure how 'perfection' entered the topic, I suspect I may have been misunderstood.
No, perfection would not be boring.
