OT: Happy Near Year, one and all!
Happy New Year!
What's on tap for this weekend you guys?
I'm taking my husband on a little trip. He has been working a lot lately so I am going to take him to visit my family. Now, doesn't THAT sound relaxing? Actually, they are a great bunch and a couple are very good friends of his.
We are heading north. We will stay with Afghani friends in Washington State tonight and then head out to British Columbia for a luncheon with the elderly aunties tomorrow.
Saturday, we are rounding up a bunch of cousins and going across to Vancouver Island to spend New Years at the family compound. If everyone shows up, it will be a crowd. Most of us are around the same age and empty nesters. Scrabble, trivial pursuit and poker (we cheat!)
We will drop off the cousins who travel in our van at the ferry dock and then head to the west coast of Vancouver Island to visit some former neighbors (who are like family) then head home via the Anacortes ferry. Whew.
Not done!
Our kids are moving to Seattle this weekend so we will stop and see the new place on the way back, hit the PX at Ft. Lewis for staples and then boogie on home.
Hope your weekend is great.
Have fun out there.

Ahhhh, but there is SO much more to Portland!
Don't miss 23rd Avenue for shopping, or a bunch of other nooks and crannies. Elephant's Deli for small meals and snacks. That place is amazing! Zupan's!
Stumptown for the best coffee anywhere. My treat if you have the time. Central Bakery for great soups and whole grain treats. Not that I am suggesting you indulge, mind you.....
And if you have never seen Multnomah Falls, it is worth the drive. Don't miss the View House on the way. One of the best views of Mt. St. Helen's and all surrounding mountains is either at the VA Hospital (really!) OR at the Grotto.
And, don't forget we have no sales tax!
Enjoy your stay!

T,
This will be my 12th stay in Portland
Spread over the last 4 years.
Love the place!
The Theater is on SW Broadway
So I usually haunt that part of town.
About a 5 mile radius from there-
From river to Washington park.
I also shop my rear off!
Love the tax-less Thang!
Have a great Trip!
Best Wishes-
Dx
