Leftover Leftovers let blah blah come over......
OK Grads,
Enough "They Crap"
Here's a true grad question.
LEFTOVERS!
By that I mean Leftovers and "Leftovers."
How did you avoid them?
Did you?
Should you?
My first thought was-
What method did/do/might you use
To avoid snacking when the fridge is full of holiday leftovers?
For me?
I found myself using my tried and true
Tactics from my Pre-Op,
Clinging desperately to a Diet" Days.
And then,
The more I thought about it,
The more I come to believe that Most every tactic to control
Non-Scheduled snacking and such,
Are the things that I did 10 years prior to WLS.
Now, without 200lbs sitting there in front of me to lose
They seem much easier
Or at least the "Pay-Off" seems clearer.
So I'm already to run to the New folks
Who are just looking into surgery and ask-
"Lend me your expertise!!"
Am I just High?
My Atkin's stuff, my Weigh****chers Stuff
All of those, "Avoid snacking situations by...."
Tips and tricks that worked for me in the past, just not for long
Are REALLY Paying off this holiday season.
What do you think?
Are a lot of your - "Leftover "
Tactics,
Strategies,
'Mindful-nesses' (it's a word, trust me, if not lets agree to make it so)
And all of those "little helpers" from the past
Coming into play now,
Or is it a whole New Game after Surgery?
What are you doing?
Thoughts?
Best Wishes-
Dx
Christmas night I announced to my husband and kids that any of the trays of goodies and yummy junk that were left over the following night were going to get thrown out. When there were cries of protest I pointed out that we had all enjoyed plenty and were welcome to keep enjoying for another day, but that I really need for it to not be around. It went against my history and instincts to throw out frosted cookies decorated by my kids! I just did it and it was a good thing. I feel guilt free about the wastefulness, because it doesn't hold a candle to my new healthy lifestyle. I find it works for me to allow the treats of holidays, enjoy a bit and move on. Today I made a special trip to have chicken bento for lunch as a return to my healthy routine. It tasted great and healthy!

You have a blessed 2006 too, Jeannie! I'm in Kentucky where the snow has turned into rain. I'm so disappointed; I leave Mississippi in hopes of a snow covered mountains and the temps are in the 50°s and 60°s up here! I'm at the library borrowing their computer because the dial up connection at our little cottage in the hills is just NOT worth the effort.
I hope your moving plans are going well. Surely there is snow in Colorado --- maybe I'll have to come visit you next year!
