It better not be a baby -- I'm 49 years old. But they did do a pregnancy test yesterday...just to rule it out. Joni

Just one more thing to think about.. At 6mnths I had a bowel obstruction. Not typical twisted bowel kind, but adhesions that cause the opening from my old stomach into the reattached intestine to be closed off. I felt bloated and tight and like I need to go potty but everytime I tried nothing would move. The catch was, I could eat, I could drink, share my gas with my friends, and I could go potty, because the intestine from my new pouch down was not blocked. The swelling and hardness was from the digestive enzymes building up in my old stomach and not being able to drain past the adhesion. Dunno how long it took to get to that point, dunno how much enzymes we produce over a day or week etc, by time I felt the beggining effects in 24hrs I was in the E.R with a anti-nausea meds and morphine curled in a ball on my left side. I had the adhesion snipped the following morning in a laproscopic surg and was home the following day. For a bowel obstruction this was a "easy" one. I hope yours is an easy fix as well. I'll check back to see what your find out. Good Luck Michelle

Thanks for the tip. I'll print this out when I go to my doctor. I guess you had a lot of pain when it got to the point to go to the ER. I'm really not in any pain at this point -- just uncomfortableness. I'll keep you all posted. How did they figure it out? MRI, Cat Scan or X-ray or something else? Joni

They made me drink 3 cups of something gross over a few hours then sent me for a CT scan. But the nurses were saying, "if you can drink, its not a bowel obstruction". Not a traditional one, but still even surgery induced it was a obstruction. The CT scan showed the distended old stomach and the fluid in it. I was told they would go in laproscopic and explore, but they didn't know the actual cause untill they got in there. I was told to be prepared for them to have to cut me wide open if they needed more exploring room. When they found the adhesion they snipped it and once they saw fluid on both sides proving the stomach was draining they declared me fixed. Take Care Michelle
