seroma

Finally got in today and had second drain taken out. I still have one left that may come out Thursday. I have to go in then for an ultrasound on a seroma. (I am not sure what the ultrasound will show them about it) Otherwise I feel great-- Kinda bummed about the seroma as I figured as long as I have had these drains it should take care of it. But the drains were more located in my tummy tuck area and the seroma is where my hernia repair was. I am going back to work Thurs and Fri half days, have the weekend off and then work a couple half days mixed in with 8 hour days next week. Provided I don't develop any further problems life should be pretty much back to normal except for the 10 pound lifting restriction and no vacuuming. oops! After January first I should be free to exercise and resume my life. I am very happy to be getting back to work. I hope I am able to tolerate it well and don't have any significant swelling from it.

Lucy-The ultrasound may just be to confirm the seroma. Did he/she aspirate it? My surgeon wouldn't clear me for any major activity until the seroma was gone as he explained that activity prevented the skin from readhering as it should. Glad to hear you feel great.

I'm sorry to hear about your seroma. Everybody else I know who had one the doctor just went in and drained the area with a needle. I suppose due to the area around the hernia they need to double check yours. This too shall pass, just as your seroma will only be a dim memory as you look back on it. I hope your transition back to work goes well and you don't find it too tiring. Best of luck
