Hi all, I just had tt/hernia surgery and haven't been sleeping well. All of the sudden last night and this morning I can't wake up. Wondering if my body is just catching up or what. Maybe it's the tryptopahn from the turkey. Also feeling a little more discomfort from the surgery and notice a drain changing from clearer to darker color. Not sure if that should concern me. I go see the doc on Monday. I have cut back on my pain pills and am driving so maybe it's just the evolution. Just needing to vent my worries. Lucy

Hi Lucy, Sorry your not sleeping well. Your body is going through a lot of changes right now. Cutting back on your pain meds could be the cause of more discomfort. Girl, I took those things like clockwor****il they were gone. I don't like pain. LOL.... Yes they contribute to constipation, but keep up w/stool softners and you should be fine. I think the change in your drainage is probably due to you moving about more. I didn't drive for almost a month. Hubby wouldn't let me and to be honest, I wasn't in any shape to. Try and take it easy as much as possible and see if the fluid changes. Thank you for keeping us updated and let us know what the dr. says on Mon. Hang in there! Jeannie

Don't worry about the change of color in your drains. It's happened to me a couple of times. My surgeon said a small capillary probably had some break through bleeding, but would soon seal up again. The drain went back to the clearer color within a couple of days. Of course ask your surgeon Monday and let him/her evaluate the situation. Do you think maybe you pushed too hard with the holiday, thus exhaustion has led to your sleeping more? I've pushed too hard a couple of times since surgery, then felt like I'd been run over by a Mac truck. I'd be totally worn out for a couple of days afterwards wanting to sleep non stop. My surgeon says the exhaustion from over doing could go on for months. She reminded me that I just had major surgery with removal of 22 lbs and a huge amount of blood loss. Guess we just have to be patient and wait for the healing. Hope you are soon back to normal. Have a great day.
