Greenfield Filter?
do any of you have one?
when was it installed?
where-on your person?
where-as in hospital outpatient?
did you have to have a family member drive you home?
how long before your surgery was this done?
it has been suggested that my DH may need to have one put in before his upcoming surgery-some of you may remember that i freaked when he threw a clot during his hospital stay last summer-the docs didn't freak but i did!
anyhow- trying to get more info than i can find in medical stuff-i need in plain English!
thanks
Margo,
Just about Everyone but me
In my support group had them put in.
Across the board they claim-
No Pain,
Biggest complaint was itching at the
"incision site," the few days after.
They are usually put in through
A large vein (artery?) in the leg
Up in the groin area,
High on the thigh to the inside.
(Sounds like I'm describing a Baseball Pitch.)
They head off So Many possible complications,
From clots.
Hope this helps.
Best Wishes-
Dx
Dx...it does help and it does sound like a baseball pitch!!!! oh-here comes a line drive......(whatever that is!!!)
i'm sold on the filter if the doc deems it necessary-and i think he will-
i'm just caught up in the logistics of taking time off from work- we are short staffed-and i only have 13 days FMLA left so i want to make the most of them!
besides the greenfield-he will have his surgery and be in hospital for 3-5 days (barring cmplications) -then there is the home coming! and later- he will have hernia repair.....ugh!
anyhow=thx!!!!!!!!!
I had a VCF (Vena Cava Filter) due to a prior history of DVTs. My WLS doc is fond to remind me that he would not touch me now due to a tightening of the protocol at the hospital where he works. A Greenfield is a kind of VCF. All Greenfields are VCFs, but not vice-versa. Is it intended as a permanent one or a temp? Often a permanenent one is comes with a lifetime subscription to Coumadin, a blood thinner.
Mine was implanted though my neck the day prior to WLS. I came with a Central Line thing as well. It was removed 14 days post-op. No pain,
