Hi Donna, My son left for Army bootcamp on September 16th. He's in Fort Benning, Georgia. I am SO proud of him, but I miss him SO much. He gets to come home for Christmas and then go back and graduates on the 13th. When he's finished there, he will be on his way to Iraq (he's in the infantry.....every mom's worst fear). But just to let you know, it is a good while before they get to write or call home. They have to EARN the privilege. Now my son writes just about every day, it not to me, then his brother or sisters or grandparents. And he calls once a week. I can hardly wait for him to come home.....I WANT to see him in uniform God bless you and your son.......these boys protecting our wonderful country....I am SO proud of all of them. Teresa

teresa, My son will miss both thanksgiving and Christmas but I will be thinking of him and know that he is striving for what he wants. I cant wait to stick the Marines bumper sticker on my van. I cant do this until he graduates. God bless your son! Donna

Pam, i have been stressing this past week, been eating way too much popcorn too! I don't think a lot of people know what a military person goes through. My son is not married and does not have a girl friend so right now just his family miss him. My thanks for your daughter in law for what she is giving up for all of us. good luck with getting back on track, I got my first letter today and feel so much better so I will get back on track too. Sabrina. I got my first letter today. I am in such a good mood now. he does talk about the pain but also his determination to finish as scheduled. He is at Parris island. and yes I will be there for graduation in January, its about a 12 hour drive but that is not bad at all, I can't wait to see the man he is morphing into... he is going to be a tank technition... I think that is what he said, he did not talk about it too much because he was afraid of what people would say or try to talk him our of it. Donna
