Hey Post-Posties I'm fishing for some advice here. About 6 days ago it occurred to me How aware I was of my internal feelings. About 4 days ago, I was feeling "uneasy" And a Little Full all of time. By the day before yesterday, these noticeable "feelings" Had grown into slight pain. So I dropped out of solid foods Back to liquids. Yesterday, Real pain that grew until I was wincing a bit by very late (mid-night)last night. This morning, not so bad at all Then started "growing" through the day. Called the Dr. this afternoon, and he said, "Come in tomorrow between 12:00 and 5:00, Whenever is 'Good For You' and I'll fit you in." (gotta love this guy) In the meantime, if it gets worse I'm supposed to give him a call and head in to- "Meet me at the ER." (really gotta love this guy!) Here's what is Odd. No Fever, No Nausea, Bowels functioning perfectly, Kidney function normal, No gas, No other symptoms AT ALL, Just pain. It's located halfway between my front and back Just below my bottom rib on the left. Deep sort of ache, That spikes to "Stabbing" pain if I take a deep breath Or move quickly. Riding in the car and going over a bump Also makes it spike. Due to the location, I would think That it is emanating from the spleen, Except- My spleen was removed in one of my surgeries. Well, I'll certainly know more After seeing my Doc tomorrow. Just a shot in the dark That someone would have -- "Yes, Same happened to me and it was___________________!" Any ideas? Best Wishes- Dx

Okay!!!!!!!!!! Have you read the feb. entry in my profile. I had pain in the same area for a few weeks before the source was found after a few CT Scans, It finally showed up. My pain was from part of my old tummy flipping over and building fluid , then pressing on my spleen when it became full. It would gradually seep out and the pain would be gone for a day or two until it started to build back up. My doc first thought it was my spleen. It was really hard to find and finally with a needle guided ct scan, a mass was found on the back of my old tummy. He was scared. I was scared. We didn't know what this mass was until he went in. There in all it's glory was the problem. One scan showed it to be the size of a quarter. One showed it to be the size of a baseball. needless to say, that part that was flipping over and traapping the fluid had to come out. I had a partial gastroectomy in Feb. The pain was exactly as you discribed it. The pain at times was stabbing and very sharp. it would take my breath. My husband had to take me out of church once to the ER. Nothing showed up in a normal x-ray or regular ct scan. My pain was right under my left rib, sometimes felt like it was right in my left lower rib cage. and at times radiated to my back. I was scared witless. I am a smoker (again) and thought sure I was having lung pain from lung cancer. Insist on a CT Scan because if you are having this problem, no other tests will catch it. it is not a common problem and I am the only one my surgeon knew of that had this happen. I will pray this isn't your problem. The surgery was done right in my open RNY scar and now that area looks worse than ever and I still have a little dull pain in the same area at times. Update us when you know.

Dx., it took them from December until the end of january to find it because they kept me on strong pain pills and doing everything except a CT scan. Even when they did the scans it took three for them to find it because of the nature of the problem. Folding over and filling up then draining slowly back out. They would have fixed it right away had they found it. I was in excuricaiting (sp) pain all that time. I could not function. I didn't eat (eating had nothing to do with the pain). I just couldn't function. That's when I dropped to 109lbs. The first scan that finally showed it, showed it to be about the size of a quarter and my surgeon didn't tell me. He wanted to do the needle guided scan first. he really thought I had cancer. When the stuck that long needle into that area, they had to do it several times because they couldn't penetrate the capsule around the mass. He told me that day that it was the size of a baseball but he didn't know what it was except to say "a retro-gastro mass, meaning it was a mass on the back side of my old (transected) tummy. he scheduled surgery on the spot and I had it within the next few days. Good luck. One thing I have learned is that the old part of our tummies do go bad and regarless of what people on the board say, it can be checked.
