Did you find that Maderma worked for you after surgery? If so, have you had any other scars where you didnt use Maderma, so you have something to compare how well it worked for you??? Thanks for any input! * Debbie *

Debbie, I tried Maderma After my Heart Surgery To reduce the scar on my leg. I have no other "product" to compare it to But, That scar is far less noticeable Than my WLS Scars, which I used Nothing on. But, this could be the time factor. The two surgeries were about 6 months apart. Hope this helps? Best Wishes- Dx

I used Mederma and was NOT impressed. Then I used Vitamin E cream and the scars lightened big time. I've also heard that cheap old cocoa butter from WalMart does the trick wonderfully! Jan

Debbie-Sorry-I didn't use Maderma-so I have no info on that. I did want to share though that my ps strongly recommends silicone sheeting. There are several different brands out there. I started out using cimeosil and have switched to biodermis because it is less expensive. Both are available online and are self adhesive. I bought the large sheet and am cutting it into strips (I think it is something like 9x13). WWW.cimeosil.com or www.biodermis.com Neosporin makes a similar product but I heard it doesn't stay on as well and has to be cut into many little pieces-which sounds like a pain in the neck.

Hi, I did try Mederma, it did not help me much. I went to a determotoligist who gave me silicone sheeting, and that help tons. It felt good to have on also.My scar looks great. Good luck!

I used Maderma after surgery on my neck (small benign tumor that had to be removed twice in one pregnancy). I heal in keloids, and the thinking was that the Maderma would help control the keloid development. Bottom line is the stuff might work if you use it as directed. I thought it was a pain in the neck (couldn't resist) as I had to put it on every night, and mostly I forgot or was too tired. So, I can only say that if you are noncompliant it won't work for you. Not exactly a newsflash. Karen

My doctor didn't tell me about Mederma when I had my surgery - he told me to use Aquaphor-from the drugstore - comes in a tube and looks like vaseline. Worked great and didn't make the scar wider or more red like some topical stuff does. My scar now is practically invisible.

I used Mederma for a small dermatological procedure. I couldn't get past the odor. My PS says that really any lotion will help scarring. Connie
