Good Friday morning folks! Missed you guys yesterday as I got a late start to my day and never slowed down until after 8:30 last night. This is going to be a busy weekend for me with a dinner party tonight and an office party tomorrow night. It's so hard to count calories, measure, weigh, etc. when I don't prepare the food myself. Would it be tacky to carry my portable electronic scale and measure out my food at the dinner parties? So this weekend I vow to: ? Maintain realistic portions and focus on protein first. ? Drink lots of water. ? Take my new bike out for a test ride. ? Clean house (it has suffered from two long weekends away from home in October) What are you vowing to do this weekend to keep on track with your own personal plan? Y'all have a fabulous weekend! Good Morning DeeDee! I had to put the MIA alert out for ya yesterday.LOL....Missed seeing ya! Sorry things got so hectic for you yesterday. I hope your dinner party goes well for you tonight and the office party tomorrow. By now, we should be able to eye up the amts. we are to have. Unless our eyes are bigger than our stomach's. HeHe.... Enjoy that bike and have a productive, successful and abstinent weekend. Yesterday actually went well considering no posting. Still don't get why I can't keep myself committed to that treadmill. Today I am picking up my granddaughter for the weekend again. Her friend is having his Eagle Scout Ceromony on Sunday. Which by the way, my DH is to arrive on Sunday too for 10 whole days. Woooohoooo!!! We sure need to get this job situation figured out soon. He got an offer there in Mass. and a phone interview with Intel of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Can you say Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I don't do cold weather well. Never did when I lived in it. I've been in Florida for 22 yrs. now and the thought of relocating, first away from my family, to another state is too much to deal w/right now. So I'm not going to. LOL.... More on that subject another time. Oh how the Lord tests and tests. Today I will get all my water and protein in. I will try and get to that treadmill. I will NOT eat past 7:30-8:00. No Grazing either. Yesterday I didn't graze but thought about food a lot. Hopefully today will be better with not having to fight that one. I'm off to post my readings, get my nails done and then to p/u Allicea. Have a great Friday everyone and stay focused and determined to stay within our plans. Jeannie

Hey Jeannie. I was thinking about your motivational challenges with regard to your treadmill. I have had a similar experience and thought about what part of it I like and the part I hate...so here is what I do. Maybe it will work for you too... 1. Treadmill time is from another universe where the clock moves in slow motion! It was always dissapointing to think I had worked out for so long but when I looked at the timer I always had a loooooong way to go. So, I set the timer (45-55 minutes depending on the day) and throw a towel over the display. I have learned through time to have self control and not lift the towel. 2. I either rent a DVD or a series (West Wing/Seinfeld) or watch the cooking channel (serious food fantasies)...but never news because it seems to raise my level of stress which would be counterproductive on the treadmill!!! 3. I set my treadmill to a program that makes the time more interesting...I like an interval training program because it goes fast/slow/up/down and interval training is a great way to work out! 4. I do not answer the phone when I am on the treadmill. 5. I try really hard not to have to go to the bathroom, but if I do I pause the timer and get back on. 6. I typically drink 2 16 oz. bottles of water during my work out. I have both bottles at the ready so I don't have to get off. 7. I never look forward to getting on the treadmill, so I remind myself how awful I feel (emotionally/physically) if I blow it off. So there you have it...my approach works for me. Try it out...or not. Karen (BTW my picture is 5 years old from pre-op...hoping new pic will be posted soon!)

Karen, thanks for the suggestions. They were great ones! To be honest, once I get on the treadmill I'm fine. I use the time to pray&sing to my praise cd's. I have my 32oz water bottle w/me and fan going. I'm just struggling w/making it a habit. For awhile I did it faithfully, than it seems when I go away over night or two, I have a hard time getting back on it. When I belonged to Curves, I went all the time and loved it. I didn't have a problem, I was motivated. Then when I had PS last Oct. I couldn't exercise for 2months than I had emergency surgery and lost toooooo much weight and I told myself I couldn't exercise because I couldn't loose any more weight or inches. Since I gained the weight back that I needed to plus a few unwanted more, I knew I had to at least get back to doing the treadmill. Maybe I need to go back to Curves to get motivated. I do know I need to stop making excuses and just do it! Jeannie

Good Morning DeeDee! I did well w/my eating yesterday but cannot report that I got on the treadmill yet. Sighs..... But, I can report that the scales have begun to move again and in the right direction. I dropped 2 1/2 lbs. I'll take that anyday. Wooohooo! Now not to sabotage it again. I'm tired of my pants fitting me too tight. I refuse to have to go up one more size I am 1 1/2 lbs. from my original goal weight, but 6 1/2 from my ideal weight. My clothes fit much better when I weigh 145. So today I am going to continue working hard at getting all my protein and water in. No grazing! And no eating past 8:00. I'm going to look into Curves again too. I have my house cleaning to do also today. My granddaughter is going to help me so it should go much faster. I'm then going to take her shopping for a dress for the ceromony tomorrow. I heard Colorado is beautiful too DeeDee, but what a major change in our lives. When I mentioned it to my granddaughter last night, she didn't want to hear about it and when she saw me looking at some houses online, she had to leave the room. My heart is being so torn over this, but I know that God is in control and will lead us in the right path. Have a great weekend everyone and be blessed! Jeannie
