Good Wednesday morning folks! I'm just about back to normal after this last long weekend trip. I'm getting back into my routine but I need to be more specific with my vows. I'm afraid I can do 1200 calories and not necessarily make all 1200 of them good choices! (Ever the Mississippi Rebel who doesn't usually break the rules but certainly tries to see how far they will bend!) So... today I vow to: ? Drink a minimum of 100 oz. of water. ? Eat fewer than 900 calories. ? Eat double the amount of protein grams as fat/carbs combined. (i.e. 90 grams of protein allows 45 grams of fat/carbs combined maximum.) ? No eating after 7:30 PM. ? Go to church instead of the gym. ? Plan out meals for the day. Weigh them, measure them, record them and stick to them! Hope your vows went well yesterday. What are you planning to do today to stay on track with your plan? Y'all have a Wonderful Wednesday. Post your vows and keep accountable by coming back tomorrow to post your success story! DeeDee

Good Wednesday Morning to you too! It sounds to me like you have a plan DeeDee and a good one at that. Weighing and measureing is important and planning our meals too. The tough one is sticking to them. With determination and accountability, it's possible. I pray you stay strong and committed. Had some issues yesterday, but I'm in the process of resolving them. Didn't do quite as well as I planned, but I did get to an OA meeting last night. It's been years, but it felt good to be back there. It was a small meeting of only 3, but it was a first step towards working on my issues. As you DeeDee, I'm putting Oct. behind me and looking forward to a more successful & abstinent Nov.. Today I am planning ahead and I'm bringing my own dinner to church again tonight. I will get all my water and protein in and allow for one legal snack only!!!! I will do the treadmill for 30mins. I will finish up my homework. I will look to God to love and nurture me instead of food. Today is going to be a good day, yes indeed! Your Gastric Buddy, Jeannie

Hi lady in red! I am firmly planted again. I avoided all the junk at the office and I took my dinner to church as well. I run the "Easy Worship" stuff so I have to be there a couple hours early to get set up. I'm grateful that God assures us that He won't give us more than we can handle... but sometimes when I look at chocolate I think He really pushed that promise to the limits! I hope you've done well today too. I liked your "putting October behind me" phrase... if I don'****ch it that's exactly where it's going ... on my behind! DeeDee

My vow is to make November a much better eating month than October turned out to be. I have also got to get back on track with several things and there is no time like the present. I plan to: Limit simple carbs and stick with complex healthy carbs and proteins Drink more water Get back on my exercise routine of 3 to 4 days per week No snacking between my scheduled feedings even if it is only a little bite, that is still snacking Wish me luck, Melissa

I did really well yesterday. So I am feeling pretty proud of myself this Thursday morning. I drank more water than usual, I stayed away from the junk, and I made it to church and avoided the snacks there. My mom brought over some homemade chocolate chip bars with homemade fudge frosting on top for the kids and hubby. They, of course did not eat them all and there were two left on the plate. So, I told them, sorry but those are out of here. And in the garbage they went. I also managed to avoid the kids' pumpkins that are still full of candy from trick or treating. That is a real accomplishment for me as I do love me some chocolate. I did not get the exercise in yesterday, but I knew that I wouldn't because we have church on Wed. nights and don't get home until after 8. And I have a toddler to bathe and all that good stuff once I get home. So the exercise vow starts today. Melissa

After the great Halloween Bender of 2005, and a day of cleansing both mind and body through exercise, back to basics, weighing/measuring/calorie counting/portion controllling...I vow to: 1. Get to the bottom of my malabsorption issues (seeing WLS MD this afternoon). 2. Keep a clear head and not be disappointed in the follow up strategies for long term health when meeting with the WLS MD. 3. Remember that I MUST be my own advocate when it comes to my health. 4. Stick to my food/exercise and calorie plan for the day (1500 calories, 50 minutes on Treadmill for interval program. 5. Find out if Halloween candy can be donated to Children's Hospital. 6. Make an executive decision which/how many pieces of candy the boys can keep, and get rid of the rest...and deal in a positive and "teaching moment" kind of way when the **** hits the fan. 7. No eating after 8:00 PM 8. In bed by 10:00 PM 9. Tend to Wifely duties (did I write that?) 10. Sleep with smile.

You do have a plan! What did you find out about donating candy? And as far as wifely duties go ... I interpret that as lying very still on the couch while he massages my feet! (Is that what you have to do as well?) I hope your getting back to the basics went well today. Let us know how you did (well, you can spare us the details on #9). DeeDee
