Has anyone reached their goal and then went below. My physician told me to gain weight. So I did, then I gained a little to much. Then I am struggling with all the emotions of not being at what my personal goal is and having to loose weight again, not just monitor. It is hard when you are given a license to GAIN weight. Stacey, Yes, I lost too much weight after an emergency surgery for a perforated ulcer the begining of this year. I was told to put 20lbs. back on. I was scared to death to have to GAIN now but was also scared NOT to. Just like you I put back on what I needed to +. Isn't that the way it was before surgery. We would gain weight than diet to take weight off to gain again +.... My problem is that because of the severity of the hole in my new pouch, my band had to be removed and the opening made bigger. Guess what that caused? Being able to eat a whole lot more at one time and the feeling of being full went out the window. I feel like I didn't even have WLS now. So I am back to the begining, having to push the food away and watch everything. Problem is I am an emotional eater and when this happend what do you think I wanted to do. EAT!!!!! It won't and never will solve my problems, so I work at it everyday. I have to play the hand that was dealt to me and lean on God for daily strength to do this. All I can say to you is keep getting the support you need and remember where we came from and do everything in our power to stay on the journey to wellness! You're not alone in this and there are many of us facing the same thing. Just do the best you can each day and make better choices. I guess I have to get to the point of I'm tired of being sick and tired of the all this weight issues in my life. I have to come to terms w/my disease and treat it as such. I pray you find the answer you need to help you back on the road to recovery. The weight will come off Stacey as we do what we know to do. We need to get back and stick w/the basics of our eating plans. Have a successful, abstinent day! Jeannie

What is under "goal" is different for every physician. I know a doctor (internist) who feels a woman 5'6" at 130 is OBESE. So, my advice would be. If you are under your "physician's goal" but you feel good, look good, and are not obsessing with weight loss (such as with anorexia), I would not take heed to advice of putting weight on. My physician's personal goal for me was to be at around 145-150 for my 5'3" frame. I look and feel wonderful at 120, and he is thrilled with that. If he told me to put on weight, I would say "yes" (to stop him from nagging perhaps), but would continue to try and maintain my 120 current weight. I have had to deal with doctors on many other very serious issues and have discovered that you also need to take them with a grain of salt. Many times you know best for your body. They see you once every two to three months, you see yourself 24/7. Don't fret, take the weight to what you feel is comfortable and don't worry. Missy.
