delray beach florida

was delray beach hit bad from wilma? i have tried calling my father but theres no anser says his phone isnt in service ...just wondering if delray beach got hit from wilma or if any one who lives near delray beach can tell me thanks joann

JoAnn, my daughter is in West Palm. Her hubby works for the phone company and works in the Delray/Boca area. Boca wa**** really hard. Phone service is very sporadic at this point and power is out. Also cell phones are intermittent. Very little rain however. Lots of lost roofs, very few lives lost (6). So I would think Dad is having a hard time getting through. Check out the Palm Beach Post Newspaper on line and you might be able to get some more info. Hope this helps.

Joann--That area wa**** pretty hard by Wilma. My friend's mom lives in Boca and they are without power and phone. My plastic surgeon is in Fort Lauderdale area and they are closed for the week. What type of living situation was your dad in? single family? condo? mfg. home?

Hey Joann, My sister lives in Wellington (outside of Del Ray), she and her kids have been staying in Orlando since there is no phone or power. Her husband however went home, he does pool servicing in Wellington, Del Ray & Boca. He said that in his immediate area of Wellington, there are some downed trees & they lost the screens from the screened in lanai. I hope this info gives you some reassurance. Hugs*Kisses Mary

Joann--Forgot to mention that the phones seem to go with the electirc down here with these things.

Lynda- My fav. Aunt & Uncle live in Ft Myers (Moreno Ave - he owns McGlo Plumming) Haven't been able to reach them either. They stayed with my cousin but still in Ft Myers. How bad is the damage you got? I figured it would be a few days before we hear from them but still always worry. Thanks for any help. Jill

Jill--The damage was pretty bad in many areas. Like Mary mentioned--lots of pool cages and trees down, phone and tv gone too for many. The other thing is often the cells don't work because of tower problems or overloading. We were really lucky in that we didn't lose power at all. The good part is that on this side of the coast we had a week of preparing. I think the other side didn't pay much attention--they thought it would be weak when it hit on this side and then weaken more as it travelled across the state--apparently that is not what happened. I'm sure they are fine. The newpaper in fort myers www.news-press.com talks about the power outages.

lynda thanks for letting me know..my sister had talked to him saturday and he had mentioned about evacuating ..which in a million years i cant picture him doing..and hes the type that hords stuff up loves to shop so im sure hesd living on canned food n has alot of batterries.. he lives in a 55 plus condo community ..him n his wife are happy there .. its a nice place to thanks again Joann
